Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Committed to Lowering Cost and Simplification

Leadership repeats these concepts on every call, and have for years. In 20 years of having health insurance as an employee here, my costs have gone down ZERO times.

Year over year, it only gets more complicated.

Talk is cheap. Like propaganda, no matter how many times they repeat it - doesn’t make it true.

Reduce my costs, pay my claims - start with those two - get the basics down first.

AI is taking the humans out of humanity… how many humans do you need to RIF before you update your mission statement?

@a7 No, on the contrary, you take government funded tax payer dollars, to find creative ways to reduce health outcomes to patients by offering fluff medicare plans that cost more in premiums than what claims will payout.

—When it coms to catastrophic health claims, you will find creative ways to delay and deny paying out on those claims, even when legitimate. Oftentimes, you use AI to auto-deny claims.
—You fail to accomplish the whole main reason the government hired you in the first place, which was to put a halt, or at least majority curb, fraud, waste, and abuse. Because you have failed in that mission, you seek to reduce costs by not paying out true legitimate claims, until people have to keep repealing it eventually contact one of the National News Media to get bad PR to get you to pay.
—Furthermore, you play a shell game in making investors thinking you are doing better than you are by continually laying off expensive knowledge employees while hiring cheaper workforce that does not have the built-up acumen for this industry. And a lot of the layoffs are also due for the reason of funding AI, which you apparently have no clue how to do.
—The entire for-profit health insurance industry has simply been setup to focus on making executives and shareholders rich without providing real value for its members and fails to provide continued work for valued knowledgeable employees with decades of experience.
—This corporation fails on all fronts.

@a4 shocking you think that “improving the health of all humanity” is too broad of a mission statement? It is like Buzz Lightyear -to infinity and beyond!!😂. Could you imagine if this was the mission statement -Working to Make Healthcare Administration Better. We are a fiscal intermediary. We connect members to providers. This is our core function. We have good, clean data and we pay claims ethically and quickly. We limit our administrative expenses by having lean leadership so we can reinvest in our core function. We employ Americans and have US based operations only so we reinvest in the communities where our employees, members and providers live and work. We value and respect our employees, members and providers and seek to facilitate and ease the administrative part of the healthcare experience.

@OP Agree. Corporations need to turn their focus on running the actual business; successfully exceeding their mission statement. Let shareholder stock take care of itself. When any company is providing the very best product or the very best service, then everything else will fall into place. Because their customer base will recognize and appreciate gold standard products and services, and will become repeat customers. And as a result stock will go up.

So, stop playing shell games with tax payer dollars! I believe I can speak on behalf of all tax payers and say, “We don’t like it! Stop playing games with our money!”
