Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

RIF employees out in September. Meanwhile VSPers can’t seem to get out??

What a weird set of circumstances. I want to leave. They pushed my VSP to 11/27. People want to stay and nope.

If you want to leave, leave. This is a sad situation for everyone. There are plenty of people who never wanted to leave for getting pushed out the door in September, however there are multitude more of you who wanted to leave, who are getting extra severance, who are having to stay a little longer and have job security and you're complaining about that. It flies in the face of the rest of the people impacted by this unexpected early termination day. Do better.

It is completely understandable to be upset that you're having to stay and work later than your anticipated end date as mentioned in the paperwork, however no one is going to want to leave and have no job lined up. Just because you're getting extra money does not guarantee that you're going to have a job lined up by the time you're end date is. This is a real reality for plenty of people who got the September date.

Got RIF’d this morning with a separation date of 9/4. Severance in workday tomorrow morning. We’ll see. Did not accept VSP but got laid off anyway. I don’t agree with last day being 9/4. TODAY should be my last day. Get me outta here asap

It could be those with involuntarily separated are more upset and difficult to have around vs. the voluntary... I'm just guessing. I was RIF'd earlier this year (first wave) and they had me out of the system within an hour.

@a9 I agree. I'm stuck until next year. I would gladly trade places with someone being RIFd involuntarily. I don't believe it has anything to do with business needs since the 3 people above me all swear they were never asked about productivity, work load or anything. They did not know until I told them I was going. They got notified after and the delays surprised them .
Why keep people who want to leave and then layoff others.

@a9 I have never worked for a corporation where I feel like the company cares about me. If you feel that way, they sold you that false hope & you bought it

@a4 I have August 2027 date and they can let me go sooner as far as I care! Sad the ones who didn’t apply or qualify for the VSP are waiting around to hear.

Yes. It makes no sense to me. Why not move people around who want to stay, to fill those VSP slots that open up. Instead, the people who want to leave are stuck, the ones who want to stay are being let go, and they are backfilling a ton of positions at the same time. I agree, it seems like they would prefer to just have VSP folks quit so they can save that money. This whole thing has seemed very unprofessional, unorganized and shady. Centene used to feel like a company that actually cared for their employees.......

They want to make it horrible by 11/27 so that you quit and get nothing that way they save $$

For what it’s worth I don’t believe Centene has any intention on keeping people as long as 11/27. I believe they overextended themselves with the VSP’s and just came up with those dates to cover their butt until they can find people to do your job for less.

Doesn't make sense at all. Punishing those employees who were willing to continue to work.
