Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Warning - Leave

Rifd PL here - do not stay. The plan is to remove as many paychecks as possible in the upcoming months. I see several posts stating management told them they’re safe. There is a reason they are using specific wording. They will not backfill all positions needed. They will utilize temps and continue bringing in outsourcing/ai.

Sarah wants profits so she doesn’t lose her seat and upcoming changes won't save her so she will continue to cut cut cut on top of the already projected plan to continue to reduce the workforce. I’m sorry “simplify” the workforce.

Only thing simple is that she is simply failing this once highly rated company.

Other leaders don’t say it to you all enough so I will, thank you. The workforce is what made centene great. It will never be the same once she’s done. I’m happy to be starting fresh.

Goodbye Centene and good luck to the people who made it great. Save yourself and get out before they pull your number. It’s not if, it’s when.

@OP totally agreed. I was told I was safe not to worry. I felt I was being lied to but the person was my PL. anyhow. Glad I’m out.

@cj probably ditched somewhere in a bunker just like he switched planes after receiving a credible threat from Iran and left his staff and journalists in the presidential plane.

@ch We were told by Tonya the change our minds of were not sure we wanted to go. That our jobs were safe ? What kind of a mind fu-k game is that? So people did change. Then got RIFs. How do we report this and to who ? My manager told me were were all ok. Not to worry. And especially Monday thru Wednesday because they were all out on the field dam and tanea. Guess what. Monday Sam invited me for a skip meeting. My manager would never pick up the phone to tell me wtf was going or o have never answered her call I had decided that so I wa tricked. Trick or treat.

@a4 You're fine to use sick leave any time between now and your last day as long as you use it for the reasons described in the company policy. Vacation time must be used prior to the final two weeks of your employment unless was already approved, so work with your PL.

@as HR told us that if we didn't want to leave to not accept the VSP. I didn't trust that so I took it, and then found out on Monday that some people on our team are being laid off. seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen--to tell folks they're safe if they want to stay and then lay them off anyway.

@c3 Medicare Appeals outsourced to India so Centene can absolutely outsource offshore and not always use US based. We were told in a meeting yesterday they will backfill jobs if necessary with offshore vendors.

@be outsourcing companies have US and internationally based employees. When working with government contracts like Centene they will only be using US based outsourced employees - who will still make far less and have fewer to no benefits.

@ah Read your information carefully when you receive it. It might state it in there about pto or sick time. The VSP states we cannot use PTO or sick time the last weeks prior to our release date. Your situation might be different.

@OP I agree. And yet so many who WANTED to leave, are stuck until well into next year.....and many of the ones I know who took VSP are higher paid folks, so wouldn't it make sense to let those folks go sooner rather than later???????????

@ak I've seen so many people on FB talking about a 8/12 start date with Alorica, for a Centene project. It's infuriating.

@ak It’s ironic that a government sponsored company is outsourcing American jobs. That should be illegal.

I believe you because my PL told us we were safe and I’m only one who accepted VSP because I don’t trust them. I’ve been with the company 8 years and I’ve been through at 4 lay offs and this time didn’t seem right this time. Good luck to everyone!

@a6 yep, while Centene cuts U.S. employees, Alorica is advertising 50 openings in Bangalore for a CENTENE healthcare process.

US shift. Immediate joining. Pay: up to ₹4 lakh/year — about $4,200 USD.

That’s employee pay, not what Centene pays Alorica, but the labor-cost difference speaks for itself.

Mission Simplify, apparently.

Doing what’s easy. Sc--w being right. There’s margin at stake… right, Drew?

@a7 Are you saying that we're not able to use sick leave in our 2-week notice period? Is this in a policy in Archer?

@OP thank you so much for sharing this with us. This is all so eerily crazy. Your a lucky one. Enjoy your time off and your new chapter.

@a9 I'm not a PL, so this is just a guess ,but I think they need people to stay longer to train others or serve as resources, and anyone who took the VSP has to do that if they want the severance

Curious does anyone know the rationale of keeping some people with a longer exit date?? Any PL know and willing to spill the tea!

Post ID: @a9+1kzsxewb3

@a4 Use it or lose it is basically what the company policy says. The only exception is states that mandate employers to pay the employee any remaining vacation/sick leave. Since sick leave doesn't require a PL's approval, read the severance paperwork to be sure nothing says you can't.

@a4 it just shouldn't be used in the last two weeks.

@OP I was just reading Centene is already using Alorica to hire people! WTH?? Cheap labor I guess. Pathetic

@a4 I’ve been using mine more as I had several hours built up and needed mental health days. I also know of several people who have gone out on leave. We are all a target already and there isn’t anything that can save you so use it while you can is my advice.

Does anyone know if we use our sick time, during the next week or so, if that will jeopardize us in any way?

exactly; my PL let our team know we were safe for now. we both know this is just temporary.

I took the VSP as I make over $100K; while I have no proof, my gut told me I was going to get cut because I'm an "expensive employee". there is another person on my team in the same position who makes less. I have longer tenure though. my responsibilities will be transitioned to them. it is what it is.

wishing everyone the best.
