We just had some work taken away I don’t want to say more or will be identifiable. My team is losing their sh-t when tension was already high. F this noise and everything about this job market.

@a8 They didn't publicize it, but there's actually been a hiring freeze for several months
@da I have no allegiance to any corporation. But while I am still being paid, I will do a job that I am being paid to do. Will I go the extra mile? No, I won't.. but I will do what I can for the customers that we still serve. And for my own sanity and decency work for money I am earning..
@d3 lol no. They dehumanize us and deserve no loyalty. My only loyalty is to my team and they’re burnt out, stressed, and not doing well. But go ahead and gobble corporate knob if that makes you feel better and gives you a sense of “honor”.
@b7 i will continue to being honourable, not for a company that treats it's employees badly, but for me. If we are still getting paid, it's the right thing to do. For yourself.

I'm on the same project so I know what you mean, just start looking out
@aj haha I look at it day by day - free money to put up with peak dysfunction
@aa No lists and the person I roll up to has not been asked to provide a list. Unfortunately I can’t say more about the project except that it’s important but not high visibility, it’s not “se-y” at all, and only indirectly drives revenue (think long tail).
Sorry I sound like a riddle. I don’t want to put anyone at risk. Manager is a really good person, great leader. Naturally gets little attention as they’re far too competent and care little about optics, just work.
The advice is solid. Just take care of the team and know the rest is really out of my/our control.
Each week that passes is another week paid, just look at it like that for now..we are not in control of what happens. Hang in there what will be will be.
@a9 I get it that my possibly being unhoused in six months if I don’t get a job means nothing to you but it means something to me as a parent. I do not make enough money here to save substantially sadly and a big chunk of my check goes to rent. But I do get your point. And if I have to move to Alabama or somewhere cheap I will do that I guess.
You mean they assigned the work and pulled it back? when it happened? can you share timelines. Do you have anyother updates like if you are asked to give name of underperformancers or anything.
@a8 maybe because there's a lot more people in the world that are a lot worse off than paypal employees? Theres wars going on, men women and children being trafficked for god knows what, people dying from hunger and disease. Try and get some perspective for goodness sake. You don't have it that bad.
talked to a recruiter (internally at PayPal) and she told me they have not worked on anything for months. what is this company doing and how is nobody in the press remotely interested in what tech workers (especially PayPal workers) are going through in 2026?
They handled this whole thing in such a messed up and disrespectful way.
