Vacation during notice period

I have a week planned vacation during my notice period. Do I have to cancel my trip? I cannot risk getting "fired" due to concerns of health insurance and family medical issues.

@b2 it’s not entirely true. If you’re in the US check the state laws. In some states they are required by law to pay accrued vacation time.

Those a--holes tried to keep me from taking my accrued vacation during my notice period. & they obviously wouldn’t pay me out.

I told them to su-k it & took it.

@ac, Freddie Mercury made some pretty bad decisions.

If it’s earned vacation then you’re entitled to it because BNY no longer pays out unused days.

If you’re trying to take unearned days then it’s up to your mgr to allow it and the company will take out the equivalent monetary amount from your last paycheck.

Live your life on your terms.
Don’t let BNY live it for you.
Freddie Mercury and Queen said it best—
‘The show must go on’
