Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Potential 2nd round layoffs

Hi everyone, I am wondering who is really on the chopping block for this? I know low performers, but what about those that started less than a year ago? Just wondering because Centene usually is known for laying off low performers and those who are new to the company.

@ae sorry to give you a reality check but AI su-ks, you need someone to be behind it to audit their work. So if you have a skill that no one else has that much experience in, you are safe. I just found out my manager and coworker took the VSP. So we are down to 6. But higher ups are like “yeah we are going to fill those roles” ummm am I lost didn’t 18k employees get there VSP approved? Who you going hire and who is going to train them lol fun times

@a1 agreed! My supervisor needs to be let go. She's been so awful lately.

We are always told low performers go first but I've seen the opposite multiple times. The majority I've seen get laid off are high level performers even one in particular who everyone would go to for help. They most likely had a higher salary than others.

Nothing has been posted and there are no updates on who will be laid off. Most likely it will include low performers. Which would make sense. I had two people let go from my dept and they were high performers and that was last year. So it doesn’t really matter. Nobody’s job is safe. There are no updates coming until the second or third week of August. We just have to push forward each day.

I applied for the VSP with a feeling my role would be at risk based on my compensation. I'm the highest paid IC on my team (over $100K), though I'm also the only one with my skill set (not that they can't be taught, but it is a bit of a learning curve).

I was approved to leave on 9/4. based on the last London calling, I'm 95% sure this confirms that I was going to be laid off anyway. my responsibilities will either be distributed to other managers OR they will hire someone else and pay them maybe $70K.

Low performers are always at risk for being let go. It’s just that a layoff makes it easier, though you go down a full FTE for at least a year or so.

On the other side if you are highly paid and above midpoint for your range, you’re a potential target if your skills can be done by someone else. This one su-ks. You could be great at your job and do everything right and still get RIF’d if it just comes down to money.

@a4 I am not sure if it was announced but I feel like low performers and any roles AI will replace. I know certain people are not doing any work. Someone told me “I haven’t done anything all year” 😳

I’m just curious, was it announced that low performers would be let go? I’m not a low performer, just wondering if I missed some information.

They say first round is low performers but I've known multiple people that were very strong performers get laid off here.

The team I just left right before a layoff in February there was no real rhyme or reason to it, but seemed the high performers were obviously kept and nothing to do with seniority
