Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Eligible for retiree medical?

If you don't relocate, are you still eligible for retiree medical? They are coding it as Voluntary Resignation. Does it matter what HR codes it in Workday? I'm on my wife's plan currently, but we would like to use Chevron's medical when she retires.
Talked to HR but not sure if they have it right. They told me it doesn't matter what HR codes it in Workday- I would still be eligible for retiree medical when there is a life event. Is that right?

@aj Yes, the Company contribution is a little over $100 a month, and a second $100 for my spouse. It doesn’t come close to covering the premium for the insurance coverage, but it’s free money CVX doesn’t have to provide but they do.

@ae

$100 “company contribution” per month you mean, right? So it’s about $1000 per month or $2000 per month if include family.

Yes, it’s all captured in the benefits website and can be conveniently set up as an automatic bank withdrawal.

Not sure of your technical HR issue. But retiree medical amounts to about $100 each a month for me and my spouse. You have to choose a health plan from Via Benefits to be eligible and those plans will cost multiples of what one has under CVX. So, you get a minor offset over the significant increase in cost until you go on Medicare.
