Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

The silence is deafening.....

Everything on my team has been so quiet....as a team it still has not been released with who took VSP. No mention of next steps for those that requested earlier end dates (all were given dates well into 2027- and the business need is NOT there as we are slow every single day). No one is talking about anything, its just business as usual....I should be happy about that I guess, but I just want them to rip off the band aid and let the people go now who want to go (VSP) and then restructure and move on. We were told there would be no layoffs in August for behavioral health, so that part is good, but of course no one could speak to what happens come September, October, November, etc........

@ak I think you're missing the point of why some of us care so deeply about who accepts the VSP. Personally, I respect everyone's decision, whether they choose to take it or not. My concern isn't about judging those choices—it's about the impact those departures will have on the employees who remain.

The reality is that when a significant number of people leave, the work doesn't simply disappear. It gets redistributed. While our paychecks may stay the same, our workloads are likely to increase, which can affect productivity, morale, and overall stress levels.

As you mentioned, our pay isn't decreasing. However, for many of us, the increased workload and added stress that may result from these departures are the real concerns. That's the issue I'm focused on, and it's why this topic matters to me.

And regarding your comment about us not being a family, family isn't always the one you're born into—it's also the one you build over the years. Many of us have formed meaningful relationships and genuine friendships with our colleagues. Those who leave will be dearly missed, and I have no doubt many of us will remain in touch with the people who have supported and cared for one another throughout the years.

It pi---s me off. Why ask us to choose a vsp date then stretch it out to forever. Can we ask HR to be apart of the Sept layoff. I am exhausted right now!!

@ak i think its because they dont know if their workload will increase if more than one person on their team/department leaves. Can people apply for a different position if they’re letting people go…….theres plenty of reasons but you sound like and a**hole, like youre all about yourself! Hopefully youll never be in a position where someone else’s decision can impact you!

I’m genuinely curious and I apologize in advance for the harsh delivery but why the he-l do some of y’all care SOOo deeply about who did or didn’t accept the VSP? 😂

It’s still business as usual. The workflows haven’t changed drastically, you paycheck isn’t decreasing, your benefits aren’t suddenly disappearing. So why are y’all this invested in someone else’s decision?

And let’s be clear: Come 9/4, there will be coworkers walking out that you never even knew were leaving because they chose not to share it and that’s perfectly fine. They don’t owe everyone an announcement.

We work for a company. WE ARE NOT A FAMILY. And after 11 years, one thing I’ve learned is that Centene has no loyalty to me, so I’m certainly not going to confuse employment with loyalty either.

Do your job, collect your check, protect your peace, and mind your business. 😂

HAPPY FRIDAY Centeam or whatever the he-l Sarah calls us lol

I have a feeling they said everyone is safe for August, so they can RIF in Sept/Oct when open enrollment begins. Language was used very carefully during that meeting...

Winds in the east, mist comin' in,

Like somethin' is brewin' and 'bout to begin

Can't put me finger on what lies in store

But I feel what's to happen all happened before…

@OP Assuming you have a clinical role? Has your PL or Director organized a team restructure meeting yet?

Yes, silence on my team too but we have not been told that we were safe. I know some leaders on my end took the vsp but they have not told the team yet. They claim they dont know anything about whats to come but i dont think they even care, since they are leaving. One of them will even be out all next week, knowing thats when we re supposed to find out.

Feeling the same way! Silence! Manager asked us to message her privately who took the VSP and when was our end date. Working OT to catch up but that will end and I am sure layoffs are coming just when? Who knows? I am ready to end this chapter and move on but have an end date of late 2027, going to try and stick it out
