People I respected, and people who seemed happy until a few years ago. It tells you a lot about how much this place has changed in just a few short years. Even I'm starting to look at my options, and I've been at Optum for more than fifteen years. This is simply not the same company I joined.

@1m8 if i was at retirement age, i would have stopped working and made them fire me. Then collect a free unemployment check
After 18 years at Optum, being at the top of my department, recognized as a Super Hero, presenting at National Conferences and becoming the Face of Optum in my specialty, I was being forced out by a younger manager, who probably felt intimidated by my knowledge.
After @ 6 weeks of intense micromanagement and scrutiny, the pressure was unbearable.
I should have probably let them push me out and then hired a lawyer, but I chose to hold my head high and retire.
It was the best decision for me. The peace that I have experienced, has no monetary value.
One word of advice to all that I was told when I joined:
Optum just wants "bobbleheads".
If they ask you in a meeting for your opinion on a matter or change in system, don't speak up...you will be targeted.
There is always a pecking order at Optum.

I heard from a coworker's aunt's son that...blah, blah, blah your energy is being wasted on negativity.

@bs my colleague told me about our VP in Optum.. was working and went on business trips while his wife was suffering really badly and hospitalized. Stroke I believe. He even announced it as though it's a badge of honor.
A new VP coming in is always a sign to run. Layoffs and reorganization are imminent. It’s the VPs job to act personable nice and approachable but underneath they are the most conniving people imaginable ready to cut costs from anyone and their family to take for their own keep. This is also why most are divorced, probably extremely unhappy behind closed doors. They chase title and money but when they are old and brittle I do tend to ponder if they will regret it.
