And it never gets easier. I'm now almost hopeful about getting laid off just to put a stop to it. Almost.

think about psych damage (dozens of cuts!!!)
@aw I know I'm one who was starting to feel immune from RIF, having survived so many over the years. I was let go in September, before any of us knew the extent to which this one was going to go.
It helps if you spend your time wisely. Try to learn to relax your butt muscles. Every 15 minutes or so during your work day to a set of Kegel exercises and take some deep breaths. HTH
@aq If you're a director and you lost most of your reports to previous layoffs then you might be next.
It's the waiting for it to happen that gets me. You see people going down around you and it's hard not to think about it.
In the last couple of years, I've modified my lifestyle to save mode. I wish i did it earlier.
From 2008, I survived several of them until it caught up with me last year. Layoffs here are ridiculous. Not based on talent pool. Purely politcal at M5/M6 level. Either entire M5/M6 and below will go in a single shot or any one M5/M6 doesn't like will go. Absurd!
