Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Level Up Confirmed > November

Confirmed at a Verizon Connect all hands by HR. Level up is coming in November.

So hopefully this means a slow down on the layoff front at least for a time.

This launch coincides with the Level Out plan most people are not aware of.

CAUTION. Do not let them Level you up. This happened to my coworker, and as soon as they leveled him up, they laid him off during the last layoff round. All it does is put a big Red target on your back. If they offer you a level up, decline it!

@b3 nope that was just the leader titles being updated at like the end of '23, they had another fancy name for it.
level up used to be called tech progression in network and GTS. it gives a new title and money for the change and yes it's only for a certain percent, but do you really expect everyone to be promoted?

Level Up my AI game. I’m one of the 88% Dan mentioned that uses AI.

@This is so funny at least in out organization - the person chosen for this role has been out for 6 months on some sort of “leave”….happens every year or couple of years. The team is left managing her accounts..she got the extra $, lasted not even a year and out you go…SMH.

Level up was implemented several years ago, Managers became Sr. Managers, Sr. Managers became ADs, ADs became Directors etc.

No bump in pay, more responsibility, more work, more title but nothing in the compensation!! Was smoke and mirrors to make folks feel good. Crashed and burned!

Level up has been discussed so much but I’ve never seen it implemented or explained what it actually is

Level up is a joke, not everyone is eligible and a very small number will get it.

Any level up won’t be out of the kindness of their hearts. It will be to appease whoever is left after layoffs

@a4 Yes promotions often come after sacrificing a peer. Would you like the title or lose a coworker?

Level Up cycles are not companywide. They usually target different departments at different times. It also doesn't mean that layoffs will slow down. The money for those few promos they actually do has to come from somewhere.
