Microsoft fired 16,000 Americans and then turned around and hired 9,000 workers under H-1B.
Disney fired 250 employees… [and] had those 250 American employees train their replacements under H-1B.
Same with Ford, GM and Chrysler .
We have Americans that are skilled in all these different areas.
Too late.......US companies are selling Americans out every chance they get!!!

Answer: Stop buying product from these companies.
@b4 yes it is really impossible to avoid (companies that offshore / h1b). would be nice if they would use some of those tax laws to discourage it. i mean they use those laws to push so many other programs, how about some in favor of us?
@dp+1m11zag90 Speak for yourself... Yes, there are people that are willing to buy cr@p just because it is cheap. There are many addicts to shopping in this country. I know a few as well, generally lonely women that spend their salaries in cr@p.
However, there are many like me, buying quality for what matters. If I am going to use something several times, or holds my life, better be a decent quality. For disposable stuff, yeah, I can do cheap.
Outsourcing has its advantages and one of them is clean air. Check China air quality. It is very close to Detroit's or Chicago's in the 70's. However, the more you outsource, the more the government has to keep workers at home with welfare. Also affects the independence of America when we have to rely on our enemy for so many daily things.
I have said it publicly several times at Ford, I am training my replacement and I have no issues being replaced with a cheaper competent Indian worker. The only problem is that they are NOT competent. This means the company once more is penny wise pound foolish. Yes, the business spreadsheet will look better with cheaper labor, but the quality will suffer, and the deliveries will delay.
I don't care anymore. Ford has been transformed from a decent place to work, into a sh!tty one, where nothing is really done in time. We just do "rework" every time the managers change their minds, while the technical debt keeps growing. And if you open your mouth to point out the issues, you get the wrath of management, and the termination.
Well, I am being terminated anyway, but also I no longer give a sh!t. I am spending my time looking for the next job, but the way things are now at Ford, I may yet see the Ford family loosing the company.
When people go shopping they always want the lowest price, but when it comes to a company paying you, they suddenly see it different.
@a3 I do what I can to not do business with outsourcers, but at some point you can't avoid them entirely.
It's worth trying at least. Recently pulled my assets out of a back I thought was domestic, but found out they were outsourcing.
If enough of us do things like that, it could make a dent
@a2 notice that you don't hear so much about "buy american" any more... perhaps even the execs realize it would be hypocritical.
Sure looks good on the expense sheet for the quarterly earnings reports and whatnot.
Sure looks bad on municipal and federal tax revenue and the ability of domestic citizens when the H1B folks send the money overseas to their home country to pay for their family who stayed back home.
I literally worked with H1Bs at a job and a couple of them lived on a mattress on the floor in a 1 bedroom apartment with a chair, and sent every dollar after their minimal living expenses out of the economy back home to their family at the motherland.
I'll never understand american business owners sh-----g on their home country in the long term to turn a short term stock prop.
Contact your congressional representative and demand they enact legislation to ban ALL H1Bs. This nonsense has gone on long enough! With the amount of IT layoffs, there are thousands of qualified Americans available. These companies that hire H1Bs should be called out for not putting Americans first.
