I get the exact same multiple year old laptop that’s best to sh@t. It’s recycled from some Neanderthal. Oh you can come back. Bi--h we were told a date or get turned off along with emails to manager.

I had what I thought was a pretty good laptop when I was let go. It worked well and gave me no troubles. But! I landed a new gig and they handed out my equipment - wow! Spanking new laptop, i5-1300, 32gb dram, dual monitors etc. I musta died and gone to heaven! And, the new place network - is FAST! From an IT perspective, total WIN.
If WF is handing out used laptops, I feel for you. It shows just how much they think of your worth to the firm. Start looking!
Literally. They grab your old machine and wipe it and put Windows 11 and give it to the next person. Only certain groups are guaranteed new machines
I wanted to put a note “help! Trapped in fortune cookie factory” inside my old machine before turning it in.
