Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Really?

Is this the most miserable company - and it’s not because of new people

Go work elsewhere if you’re so unhappy. Ppl like you are toxic

Sorry, what's this 3-M you speak of?

We're so cheap now, we can only afford 2 M.s.

Business be damned.

It’s been on a cliff for a while. Although I’ve now moved on, my current network connections say that the toxicity has continued to worsen.

There’s going to be some small good pockets around but that’s very fragmented old 3M that has been protected or hidden. The good old 3M is otherwise gone. It used to be a really great place and culture. Sad to see the state today.

Ok, that's a good addition to the story. I'll remember and use that!

and sadly probably accurate.

@cy agreed.

Right now, though, Bill Brown is actively pushing employees to the ground in front of the bear.

@bp

You make a good point. I once wondered how on earth a company I worked for was profitable and a leader in its market. Someone there told me - "easy, everyone else is worse"

Reminds me of the story about two people running from a bear, and one stops to put on him sneakers. "you'll never outrun the bear", one says. "I don't have to", the other says back, "I just have to outrun you".

To be successful, sometime you just have to be less bad than competition.

No company is perfect. But to be honest, "old 3M" was pretty good for many years. A shame to see it fall so far, so fast.

Left MMM 2 years ago. Went to another publicly traded, successful company. Extremely profitable, high growth, stock price in the stratosphere. It still reeks of mismanagement, poor leadership and lots of disgruntled employees. I agree with the reasons people are leaving but just remember the grass isn't always greener. It might su-k less but it still will probably su-k.
