Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Thanks CENTENE!

I got terminated at Centene. My performance was exceptional; I belonged to different groups and associations, participated in voluntary groups, helped and assisted other colleagues, completed trainings, and maintained exceptional metrics (more than 60 daily calls). I was truly a dedicated team member.

But I got laid off. I am now without a salary, debts are mounting, and I am going to lose my house and cannot pay utilities or my children's college tuition. I have completed around 120 resumes and applications and don't have any answers yet.

Thanks, Centene, for your support for your employees—the support that makes all of you richer every day with our efforts and work.

@em If you do consult a lawyer, ask them about VSP program requirements under the Older Workers Benefit Protection Act (OWBPA). The VSP may not have had all of the necessary disclosures and review period required for workers over 40.

Seems like many people that have been on disability or used a leave recently got let go too. If nothing illegal is being done here they are walking some very fine lines.

@OP I am consulting an attorney and seeing if I can file charges with EEOC. They never sent warn notice. I was lied to consistently about being safe. And I was the oldest and only one let go on my specific team and no grounds for that. High producer great reviews. No reason. Except singled out. Will see what I find out.

@bz Consider reaching out to a law firm. One of the ones that advertise that you pay nothing unless they win you money. And be sure to tell them about how all this has taken a major toll in your mental health, undue stress, affected your quality of life, your sleep, anxiety, and any other ways this has affected your wellbeing.

@bs you are so spot on with that lazy one s stayed and favorites. I worked in 2 dif depts. I trained. It’s unbelievable. There were some others could have been let go not me. But I’ve been treated with disdain and like I have a leprosy. My mental health is very fragile. Know there will be more lay offs and they will go.

I'm in the same boat. Everything you do for this company doesn't matter. You can be an exceptional employee but the Cooperate Greed is stronger. My scores, efficiency, work ethic and knowledge were well above average. Funny that the lazy people got to stay. The roaches that can't handle their own responsibilities survived. Oh, and please don't get me started about all the brown nosing hypocrites. Good luck to you, and to those impacted by this. Know your worth, this sh-t isn't worth crying for. Keep the faith regardless in what you believe in.

@ar I got let go as well and I was a very excellent these past 4 years. So much that I was offered full time from contractor. The severance package does not come for a month or longer after our official last day. Can take 1-2 pay periods. I lost my job in 2010. Had a daughter in college and a mortgage. Lost my home had to file bankruptcy and my daughter had to go into debt. Now she can’t pay her loans so the bad stuff just keeps coming. The way they handled this was so unfair and ugly. I am going to need a lot of therapy to get over this at my age. I don’t know if it will help or not but Sarah sure did bring it up. Like a magic bullet. lol. Wow.

I'm sorry, you were laid off. But didn't you get a severance package?

I'm right there with you. I got let go and have been applying like crazy. I'm hoping you get a callback. Hang in there. I'm holding to my faith and hoping for the best. Gave my best years to the company so that makes it even harder for me to apply elsewhere when they want younger people and pay a lot less than what I was making but I need to trust on God. I'm sorry this has to you. To a lot of us.

Use AI to create a resume for a Director or VP role. Higher pay, less work, and less chance of layoff.

Never Give Up no matter what obstacles you are faced with just know there is a God who sees what you are going through and he cares about you and when one door closes he will open a bigger and better one for you! Declare victory even when you can't see it because that is what will help you and your family through this difficult time. This too shall pass. Be blessed.
