Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Railway Age

Shane keller wasnt relevant when he was forced to retire from UP years ago. Now he's trying real hard to get attention with a merger support article in Aug 25 Railway Age article. In his brilliant words, not mine, his guilt states hes not paid to support the merger, yet fair to say if he spent 30+ years at UP hes still a huge shareholder and benefiting quite handsomely from stocks rise from 220 to $310. Pretty sure Kellers getting paid for such a ridiculous article. STB needs to review this. Keller is chairman at Compass and likely wants to win some UP business....different company now and one that stands to benefit greatly, by supporting UP. An inside job even while on the outside. What a disgrace...

@np these are hilarious but couldnt agree more. Pretty sad that UP relying on old man Keller to wave a wand a become their Pen and Teller....the article was laughable at best and nothing compared to these spot on and comical posts.

@OP i dont at all disagree with these posts but why is this shocking? Nobody knows this Keller guy, so who cares. The timing is definitely odd but not nearly as odd as the poorly written content and his goofy disclaimer, that hes not getting paid. Lol. He didnt randomly grab a box of crayons and his coloring book and decide to go out on his own limb here. Thats for sure. Someone asked him to go color with them. If anything they ought to pay RA to post for that waste of time and lack of effort. Shame on them, all.

@ck a train wreck. Nobody happy, they just pretend. Vena has ruined UP and thinks hes the smartest person in the rail industry. Shocked K Rocker still keeps cheerleading, given hes never been appointed CMO after many years on the job. Mr Steffan L will hopefully takeover post merger and Rocker can move on. Hes done nothing as EVP, barely letting him talk from scripted comments on earnings calls. Thank goodness. A disaster

Well after showcasing the mill in Reith and some farmer somewhere they had to try and drum up some more recognizable support as most shippers and employees want nothing to do with it after the wreck that Vena has created at UP.

@OP UP looks desperate when an ex UP exec goes out and spins a story to RA in attempt to support for merger. At least If gonna do it, have the article make sense. The SP merger was a prolonged failure, not just the tech and tcs integration but the leaderships execution, operationally. Not sure what old yeller Keller is getting at, but better question is why....whats his hidden agenda

@OP i read it and thought the same thing. UP notorious for writing the support letter and having those who might need a lil lovin, put their signature on it. Classic UP. Keller apparently not smart enough to know something stinky here....is he at Compass now? They probably want something from it. Its no shocker....it might be rocker behind the pen. UP wants this merger so bad..btw did u read he said there will still be 2 rr in west and 2 in east. Tell him to forget his UP math....its 1 in west 1 in east and 1 big railroad spanning the country,Keller. Duh.
