Has anyone else been denied for their previously approved work from home accommodations? I've been approved for two years and now I got denied. I dont understand this push to be in the office, its tanking morale

I submitted a request months ago and haven’t heard from HR.
@pb my request for renewal of my reasonable accommodation of WFH for my ADA protected disabilities has been open for a week with zero interaction from HR. They typically set a meeting with me within a couple days of opening a case. This is very abnormal and I don’t know what’s going on either. Others have also been reporting that HR is being silent… I’m getting very worried
I'm not co-located with anyone I work with and was hired years ago as remote but was required to RTO anyway. Hate it but I had to comply. I recently requested a temporary reprieve because in my spare time I am caretaking for a terminally ill family member. I hired caretakers during my work hours and record PTO if I have to do anything during the workday. The time after work is physically and mentally draining, and the 2+ hours of commute time each day is what I'm trying to get back temporarily so I can spend it with family or imagine this get more than 4-5 hours of sleep each night. HR has been completely non-responsive. Are they evaluating? Are they ignoring? Are they flat out denying the request? I have no idea. Do we even have HR at this company anymore? I may have to just do an FMLA which will be terrible for others on the team (we're already short staffed) but I may have no choice. The bank can't ignore that request.
I recently applied for an accommodation, four weeks have gone by I haven’t heard anything. I don’t see where I can track the case number and service now it’s nonexistent. My manager supports the effort and put in a flexible work arrangement, which I think is only good for 90 days? I just feel that it has put me into a position of being laid off even though I have legitimate health issues and they cannot give us a clean office to return to, which doesn’t help. He was asked to go into workday and put me as remote, so let’s see how that goes
@c0 GTFO. Go sit in your bubble and go on disability if it's that bad. Grow up.
@ct Same. I knew it would put a target on my back.
“ There’s a story floating around that GK was told about buying doctors’ notes online for WFH accommodations and then she proceeded to buy one during a that meeting.”
Is this what our CEO is paid millions for?? To crack down on medical accommodations? Is this what she wastes time in meetings focusing on??
It’s so ridiculous when you really think about it.
@cf This is because Matrix was approving WFH accommodations without really looking into them, even when there was evidence to support further scrutiny. So a ton of people got accommodations without a lot of proof. Now, people who need accommodations are paying the price for people gaming system and shoddy oversight.
There’s a story floating around that GK was told about buying doctors’ notes online for WFH accommodations and then she proceeded to buy one during a that meeting.
@cf what additional medical information are they asking for?
What was the reason they declined it? I’ve also been approved for the last 2 years and I want to at least try to preemptively counter whatever nonsense they throw at me when I apply again.
@cf I was told I couldn't even appeal the decision.
@cw you mean like Sharon, the Seattle bi--h with a whiny tone who video calls from home and lectures us about RTO??
@ct Meanwhile gooner's itchy a-s ...
Her next few TownHalls are going to be tough to watch as this image will keep popping up in my head.
@cm gosh and wouldn't a disability attorney just love to take up that retaliation case
Let’s be really buddy- if you were denied you had a bogus case to start with it you won’t be whining here and open lawsuit
With this massive RTO push/no exceptions, HR may want to dogfood it first. Well over 50% of HR (including senior leaders) are remote. “Do as I say, not as I do…”
This is why I didn't even bother going for an exemption in the first place.
At the end of the day employees are being asked to absorb an unfair personal cost to support a corporate strategy. RTO is effectively a pay cut and on top of that, a huge decrease in quality of life. The amount of unpaid labor the company has rayped employees for just in commuting alone is disgusting when you think about it, demanding employees spend 2 hours of time each day in logistics to get to and from our designated concentration work camps. Meanwhile gooner's itchy a-s just waddles back and forth from the 4 seasons to the office.
At the end of the day you have to realize this company hates it's employees and do what's right for yourself.
@cf this is the transition to a mostly fully in-office workforce. Any positions that are remote will probably be axed and shipped to India.
The same thing has happened to me, I'm continuing to work with my provider to push back and keep the interactive process open. It feels like it should be illegal the amount of medical information they're requiring in order to approve the same accommodations they used to not blink at.
@ab ✨️agoraphobia, chronic illnesses, mental health, physical disabilities✨️
@bm they offered noise canceling head phones and a taller cubicle in a quieter dept. The headphones were $260 but me being home would have been free
What was their stated reason for denial? Did they offer any other type of accommodation? Is this not a breach of ADA protection???
@aa this was always supposed to be what occurred. I had people on accommodations before RTO, and that was in the directions. The difference now is they stay in the same geo range geo for compensation vs. getting moved to a C if they are already in a D, E, or F
The bank doesn't give a s h i t about morale. They just want cheap employees in India paid in Rupees. If you don't match that description you will be gone.
What are examples of an issue that requires permanent work from home status?
I work with someone that broke their hip, and allowed to WFH for 6 months. At that point they said HR told them they need to RTO or take some sort of disability. Not sure if they meant FEMLA or short term disability pay.
They are moving everyone with a WFH accommodation to a remote location in Workday, too. It appears to be a setup for eventual layoff based on remote location, because laying people off based on accommodation status is too sus.
You know that's the whole point, right? Tanking morale.
They want attrition they don't have to pay for.
