@m5 Yep, once the outsource company realizes that you are on the hook for real, prices go way up. Engineering and software and I.T. has turned into a nightmare profession.

@m5 Cognizant called their restructuring ProjectLeap. The press releases stated they were moving towards a high-level skilled and expert workforce and abandoning their pyramid model (of hiring thousands of fresh graduates to handle manual tasks while a few senior managers oversaw the projects). Yet boots on the ground indicate the senior employees were cut and newbies were declared to be subject matter experts. Sounds very much like Ford’s SmartRedesign.
Ford IT infrastructure has been outsourcing entire groups to companies like Cognizant for several years. One interesting thing is that during the honeymoon period the companies ensure their senior English speaking technical staff are assigned to the account and then post honeymoon period freshers are rotated onto the account.
One of the senior technicians advised us that nearly everyone over 40 was cut, even in India. The US staff onboarded from outsourced companies is cut after the honeymoon period. They operate at 10% US staff. Mass hiring in the Philippines to replace too expensive US and Indian workers; English speaking Indians are liasons to the customer (aka Ford).
The LL3 who made the decision to outsource is looking less and less like a hero as outages and complaints about poor support pile up. SMH Sure most of the Ford groups he outsourced had become monuments to incompetence and inefficiency. However, post the honeymoon period so has the outsourced solution. Only now they have lost control and the contract prices continually increase. Slapping that easy button on the race to the bottom. The last leader to roll up his sleeves and do the hard work was Mulally.
Well Ford Credit Customer service has gone to Panama now and our call volume wait time has increased due to they did not teach them much and also now have more escalated calls as customers are unhappy trying to talk to these people. Who comes with these brilliant ideas?????? Mexico reps now handling collection and total loss calls. Obviously the people who make these decisions never did this job.
I've heard that layoffs are highly likely in some areas where little value add work is actually done, and headcount reductions are more likely in areas under new management. The new boss will be eager to appease their new boss and wash itself of toxic individuals. 85% of the headcount five years ago, that's a big one. I wouldn't want to be in a support organization with a track record of poor guidance and incompetent business partnership.
I'd bet she didn't even take the offer to end it to you... Far to vindictive herself for reasonable mediated conversation, or was it the BFF a-s su---r in HR? How many times you think she heard "I've got a proposal I'd like to run by you". You manage a fu--ing business not wrath month planning committee.
@hx And of course if you work for a small asian boy that does nothing but su-k the rotting hemorrhoid ridden a-s of such an individual. Mumu's design ensures easy access for such tasks.
You might be on the chopping block if you work for an ineffective marketing manager who has overseen numerous failing portfolios, such as those in small and medium utilities or the Ford Edge, or if someone with that track record is managing your future product portfolio. In such cases, they often need scapegoats. They may also empower individuals who are themselves vindictive and toxic. Common traits include obesity, a perpetually stern expression, and a history of divorce that has fostered deep-seated s-xism.
Oh no...you are sadly mistaken. It's the other way around.
I work in what was previously Model e, I can tell you I am confident we are not having cuts anytime soon. We're very busy and our work matters to the company's bottom line.
@cn Ford can simply threaten their families if they steal tech you stole from them.
"you will be mine! or ill threaten ur family! marry me!!!"
@c1 Well wouldn't it be a better idea to steal it from the company we stole it from? I mean we tend to make things worse.
Geely, Please don't take our tech!

@c1 what do you smoke 🤣 steal our tech? BS
Federal WARN Act
@c1 no one wants to steal our tech
Geely wants to steal our tech.
Good luck everyone!
@ay correct. Farley and Kumar have been signaling this. The repeated casually dropped remarks in meetings and to the press about how Mexico and Asian country’s have better quality processes. The standing up of mirror engineering, marketing, finance, IT organizations in low cost countries. The mirror org Initially purported to provide follow the sun support, that narrative shifted with Mexico as it has the same time zones as US.
Don’t forget that years ago Farley made the statement that in 5 years 85% of the white collar work force would be in low cost countries. The LL3-LL5 tried to walk that statement back as guess what, the top talent who could leave Ford heard that immediately found another employer.
Now the mirror organizations in the US are being serially shutdown.
Shame on you if you didn’t believe Farley when he stated 85% of the white collar workforce would be in LLC.
@ay Is it called outsourcing when you’re replaced by an H1B
@OP. Cuts are happening, but in handfuls. My area is being outsourced, but not all teams are getting the pink slip at the same time. Blue badges received two options: retire or layoffs. So everyone is scrambling trying to find another position in the company, and some are looking outside. Even managers. Everyone else (PS, Agencies) is getting the boot...
It seems the company's plan in the next years is moving to Asia and Latin America, leaving the HQ and some blue collars jobs in NA.
