Thread regarding Global Payments Inc. layoffs

Validity?

Someone commented on a post-

Supposedly, the next RIF will be in November-ish. I am hearing from multiple "hush" sources that this one will be performance based, mixed with "Re-badging" instead of severance. Supposedly, this means you'll just show up and your badge won't work: You can have IT issue you a new badge under a new 1099 contract or you can willingly leave--meaning you quit on the spot and aren't owed anything, or you continue to work but as a 1099 no benefit worker.

This info is also based off similar late-stage McKinsey overhauls that have done similar things.

Is there validity to this claim?

Some people in the July RIF are being kept on until October before they are let go. I have not heard of a new October RIF.

@1ja Yeah, there's definitely some major movement coming. While I'm not aware of the scope there's already been whisperings and notices for teams across different centers/remote work. Not to mention some suspicious questions and the like coming from the overseas teams that are being front-loaded with the labor and minimal training. All over the next couple of months.

GP seems adamant that in the pursuit of saving payroll they'll burn every customer and working relationship they've built over the last ten+ years. Tank a dollar of sales to save a nickle in 'human resources.' Mckinsey has another mark in their book, that's for sure.

@OP was just told to expect another in November, but was encouraged to stay to get the benefits, so likely will have severance. Not performance based, but more in realigning to Worldpay structures for some teams. And that it will impact Jeffersonville. Like we haven't been impacted enough, not even half the building left. Cameron has ruined this company, and needs to be the one going. I've got too many years in to just walk away, will wait for that severance and unemployment.

I mean until you see the McKinsey people leave always expect a 90 day turn around for layoff rounds. It has been quarterly layoffs at GP for years now. Especially if you are in an operations role, I am surprised that there are any US based support staff at this point. There is life after Global Payments. There will be other places to work. It might take longer or you may have to dip into 401 k or savings, but there are other places to work at.

@cp Sure not everything on this site can be trusted, but I think everytime people have called our an upcoming RIF it actually does happen, maybe a week or 2 delayed, but it happens.

My understanding is that there is another RIF to take place around the October timeframe. Rebadging could be part of it, but there is a good chance rebadging could occur for certain teams between now and then. The rebadging will be team members being transitioned from being Global employees to InfoSys employees (an India based BPO). There is a formal agreement in place between Global and InfoSys with team members having already been RIF'ed with their work/roles having moved to InfoSys in India. The rebadging is a similar effort, but starts with the employee becoming an InfoSys employee to start. Basically if you are in Ops in North America, expect RIFs to continue, with work being offshored to the Philippines, to InfoSys and for rebadging to InfoSys all to occur.

Everything on this site can't really be confirmed but I'm sure there is some partial truth to it just based on GPs behavior in the past.

Our manager told us last month to have our resumes up to date because nothing is permanent.

Leadership seems all over the place, it's messy. We don't even have a confirmed org chart yet sooooo I'm not banking on being here too much longer. My job will probably go to someone in the Philippines at some point.

@OP my Senior leader who was cut in the last round but is still here told us the same thing. Seems they are going to be done with packages and it will be a simple tough luck bud.
He advised our entire team to seriously look for other employment.
He mentioned late October as to when he felt the next layoff round, but he was not sure. He also mentioned that it would likely be 2 rounds before year end.
