@1n5 other subsidiaries dont make much money to begin with, they are all dependent on north america
Hughes subsidiaries are currently being affected by layoffs BECAUSE OF AMERICA!
@185 Hughes Network Systems care about things like these. They have a whole team of people whose job it is to decommission and retrieve equipment from customers and partners.
But with EchoStar and Dish, this is truly indicative of their culture in the space: they don't give a flying f _. Not to employees, not to investors, not to banks/debtors, not to customers, not to partners.

@df sorry to say. You’re naive. Is this your first experience with an HR department in a company? I’ve had many. They’re all the same. They’re the least caring people, and are the greatest collaborators of malpractice in a workplace. And these people at Hughes took it to the next level. Lying to people that the 2 month paychecks were severance? And then attaches the WARN note on the termination email on the spot? Michelle and the Hughes HR people are toxic. Oh I knew of people who left HR and knows the dirt and mess these highly paid traitors do to their employees.
@a1 Only Hughes or Echostar as well. Echostar employees at Germantown and Gaithersburg did nothing productive though.
I believe impacted fellows are eligible to be absorbed into open positions at corporate Echostar .. I know few folks whose offers are getting processed .. again, you may have to kiss some a**, however personally I would GTFO of anything which touches this sinking ship...

@df I work in germantown but I dont get why they want to come to europe for money. We are a fraction of the size of America?

@d2 The HR department at Hughes Germantown is being told what to do from Ethan and his gang. The head of HR can do nothing even if she wanted to. Think of her as an overpaid clerk. So asking her to be Joan of Arc and having a martyr fetish is misplaced.
The papers claim Hughes will focus on Enterprise, Defense, and Government. But that’s a load of cr-p.
They fired almost all of Enterprise Network Engineers, they nearly cleared the factory, and they laid of people in the government team.
Worse of all, the infrastructure that supported these teams and enterprise customers were gutted so they don’t have the means to adequately support.
HR did horribly to Hughes operation.
Since there is No enterprise strategy in reality, most likely by end of the year if they don't get a big enterprise contract, they might handover the keys of Hughes to the lenders, or they will just shed more folks to compensate which reduces opportunities to growth even further
