@aa at my office all phones are wireless and link to the core switch via fiber metro transport network...where are you located? The appalachian?...

@a9 Because it's a low cost, proven technology that gets the job done providing voice calls. Not everyone is hosting server in their garage.

@a9 Because instead of dealing with it 10 years ago, VZ chose to sell it to Frontier. Since most of the copper lines are still regulated, they still need to be supported or migrated to Fios.
Hopefully The big V will just offer us a huge incentive to retire. Most of our fiber splicers were techs before so not much to return to the grind. Half will retire if this is true as they they don’t want to face customers again.
