Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

R2B managers lied about salary increase

I have officially moved on from Verizon Business.

Ultimately, the workload, expectations, and compensation were no longer sustainable. Managing an entire territory on a base salary of roughly $36,000, while absorbing the expenses that come with being in the field, is difficult to justify. R2B territory managers are among some of the lowest-paid territory managers when compared with similar positions across industries, and they are expected to do it without even a vehicle allowance.

But the compensation itself was only part of the problem. The bigger issue was what was promised.

During the transition, employees were told that the new job title and expanded responsibilities would come with an increase in base salary. People moved into these positions and accepted significantly greater responsibilities based, at least in part, on what they were told their compensation would become.

That promised base salary increase never came.

There is a major difference between accepting a demanding job knowing exactly what it pays and accepting expanded responsibilities based on a representation that your compensation would increase.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for the people still working in R2B. They deserve compensation and resources that reflect the job they are actually doing, and more importantly, they deserve what they were promised.

@e3 literally could of a class action suite against them for the amount of dishonesty that was told to us in this transition.

@dj again, here we have a plant for Verizon “you didn’t get it in writing” many pieces of management spoke about a base salary raise after the title change. great job Chris Flood. Oh, and you supposedly work for a company that honest we are all family. Again, yes, they lied to R2B and their really is enough people that can attest to it if a lawsuit came out.

@OP I honestly don’t know this answer and it sounds horrible what that department is going through but you don’t get anything in writing before accepting a new job? You mentioned they lied about their promise but prior to accepting there was nothing outlined in writing? Just a word of mouth type of thing? It sounds like it was more of a “accept this position or be Riff’d” but I have never seen wages, vacation, pto, etc not listed in writing prior to accepting a position

@be check this guy out “fine for a lot of people” meanwhile leaderboard shows “majority of people are not hitting commissions target” another bot sent by Verizon Business to defend illegal actions “like promises of a salary increase with the title change” what are the chances of a person going to The Layoff and defending a companies actions?

@be looks like we have a paid member defending the horrendous action of management “lying about increasing the compensation with the title change and how bad the wages are” Even in a place where workers seek refuge Verizon sends a person to say that “R2B account managers are babies” touché Chris Flood and your goons!

I’ve only heard people attribute this to CJ, were there other leaders that said one thing and then acted like they never said it?!

@be depends on your market. I’m SE market where the footprint is under developed and most of the duns are owned my sr managers or client exes. Def not making anywhere near what i used to unfortunately spending days prospecting just to get ghosted on a constant basis.

Honestly the new role is fine and a lot of people are acting like babies

Yes you have to sell, yes you have to prospect, that also means you have a lot more flexibility with your day/schedule as long as you produce.

You can literally expense your mileage. You can get compensated for certain events with approval. Idk what costs anyone was absorbing

Idk I'm on one of the top teams in the country and a bunch of us are making money and pretty happy overall

5 years in role and the whole transition has been the most pain that’s caused some much turmoil. The compensation is literally a joke now. How can i hit 100% of quota and barely get a check? Enough is enough, they have thrown glitter on so many tu-ds.
