Career Mobility Site - Internal job board

Citi's job board is a total fraud. Every fake interview is just a cruel waste of time for a job already promised to some buddy or contractor.

HR and managers have zero morals. Someone needs to audit this rotten system, and the candidates who applied internally should start saving screenshots of the staff lists before and after few months to catch them in their lies.
What a waste of time!

It's an open secret or not so secret about Citi's VP Glass Ceiling.

All of Wall Street knows. Citi is the only financial institution that's earned the derisive and opprobious moniker, The Citi VP Glass Ceiling.

The majority of employees will hit the VP Glass Ceiling and either Never get In-seat promoted to SVP, the next level, Or it will take 10+ years to get to SVP.

I've witnessed many Star employees Rated 1s/2s Quit because they didn't want to wait around any longer, continue to be stalled and strung along with False Hopes by Citi.

After they Quit, I then witnessed Citi and their managers freak out about the lost skills, institutional and historical knowledge that Quit. LOL!

The employees who remain at Citi are the low calibre and mediocre who keep Citi Dysfunctional, chaotic, along with antiquated or ineffective methods, policies and "technology".....which lead to Consent Orders, monetary fines, lower revenue, inability to hire better quality employees because of lower revenue and higher operating costs.....Vicious Cycle Merri-Go-Round. 🎠🎪⭕️

This is in addition to the bad and toxic "managers" Citi keeps on its payroll despite complaints from employees including on tge annual VOE.

We HAD to post the open C12/13 spot, we had to interview a woman, a minority person, a old fellow and a 'star' Asian associate before hiring the shoe-in, ex-client, an Italian guy we knew from Brooklyn. All that just to check the box, a disrespectful use of people time. I sense they all knew, if not I'm tellingthem right here, right now. Sorry, they made me do it or we would look bad. Imagine that o'lord...

To the previous poster's point, you're like the Pot calling the Kettle black.

The only way you would know about any other posters' "posting volume" (LOL!) is if you're doing the same thing.

Look in the mirror.

You must have a PhD in Posting On The www.thelayoff.com.

@1tt because you’re the one making the assertion. I don’t work for you - I’m just highlighting that the majority of your statements involving numbers are obviously farcical and no one should pay them any mind. And if you think that because I glanced at LinkedIn I have the time to pull together a dissertation for you, than you should be able to finish a few PhDs given your posting volume here.

Which, to drive the point home, makes your lack of even a modicum of evidence all the more apparent.

Probably because like Normal people, the poster doesn't have all the time in the world to dig through LinkedIn or any other website, search for hundreds if not thousands of Citi employees who transferred internally to new Citi jobs, do a count and analysis of the thousands of Citi employees to determine or approximate how much time does it take for Citi employees to land their next Citi role.

If you apparently have the time, why don't you do it.

@1fn why are you quoting statistics? Go on LinkedIn and see people who have changed roles internally. Simple math shows it’s more than your fake stat numbers. If you have proof and numbers, show them. Attacking everyone with your tired chicken little routine and just straight up making up numbers is not helping anyone (not that you care about helping anyone).

@OP

Since Citi is Broke A$S Poor, Citi reduced In-seat promotions and mobility TO 5% of the employee population starting around 2022.

Of course, this drives out to Quit/Resign, the best employees Rated 1s/2s. The employees who remain @Citi are the mediocre to low caliber that keeps Citi Dysfunctional, chaotic and FUBAR Fvcked Up Beyond All Recognition & Help. A lost cause.

About 3 years ago a Rated 1/2 employee Quit to go to Goldman Sachs and today, has tripled her base salary. And this is before bonuses!

When she handed in her resignation letter, Citi and her manager begged her to stay and uncharacteristically gave her a counter-offer at her new salary even though officially, Citi has a HR policy of Not giving counteroffers.

She wisely declined. And No, she has Not been laid off @Goldman because she's that good, skilled and competent.

Citi's loss = Goldman Sachs' gain. LOL!

True.

At least other employers get to the point in the second paragraph of the job rejection email.

They don't spew oleaginous and disingenuous compliments and fake gratitude.

The first paragraph thanks the Svcker-job applicant for applying for the role.

Then the 2nd paragraph says something along the lines of we're Not moving forward with your application/candidacy.

Typical Citi employee where Reading Comprehension skills are Non-existent.

All the poster said or alluded to is the fact that assuming the other poster is Not a LYING Troll, who said he applied to 4 Citi jobs and got 3 job offers is actually telling the truth, then he's obviously the rare anomaly and the exception to the norm.

Maybe 1% or less of the number of job applicants get 3 job offers out of the 4 roles they applied to.

The Norm in Citi is the fact that very, very, very few job applicants get a 75% yield of job offers, or at any other employer.

Again, this is assuming he was Not a LYING Troll and just spewing Bullsh!t.

@18n as usual, a reductive and half-baked argument. So because people post here and say it’s impossible, it must be so and no one gets a job internally? And then you viciously downvote and roast the people who chime in and say yes, I’ve done that and here’s what I did? You’re not looking for a debate- you’re spewing propaganda.

Citi's fake, disingenuous BullSh!t NO Sandwich job rejection emails below. The NO is between the Compliments-BullSh!t Bread.

Citi thanks very much Job Applicants-Svckers and Fake A$S compliments their "impressive skills", then says "We're NOT moving forward with your application.", then Citi says we hope you continue to be a Svcker-Job Applicant and strongly encourage you to compound Citi's Soul Crushing False Hopes.

Note to Employers: Even if you finally, eventually Hire Svckers-Job Applicants after they applied to hundreds or thousand of your jobs, Svckers-Jobs Applicants do NOT forgive or forget. We become Trojan Horses.

Citi's Rejection Email:

Thank you for your time and effort on your recent application for the role of XYZ-Job Requisition Number 12345678. It’s always great to learn more about people and meet them.

We want to let you know that we won’t be moving forward with your application for this particular role.

But you can still apply for other positions at Citi. In fact, we strongly encourage you to take a look at other openings on our Careers Site to see if there are other opportunities that might interest you.

We hope to hear from you again, and wish you the best of luck in your career search.

Best Regards,

Hello, HR !

Your post makes No sense since the previous poster showed that people, students, job applicants etc. try to increase their chances of landing a job offer by applying to as many jobs as possible because they still need to buy food.

What good is a "targeted" or specific job search when when even those do Not yield an interview(s) let alone a job offer??

@15s I've seen 2 people in my career quit because of significant compensation problems, and then magically the company counters with the exact match to the offer that the outgoing employee accepted.

Both times, they decided to leave. Here was their rationale:

  1. You knowingly underpaid me and had the budget to pay me a competitive salary, but decided not to until I forced your hand. The damage was done. Peace out.

  2. You gave me a new boss who made my life miserable and then knowingly underpaid me as well.

In both places, the root causes were never solved. There is no reason to ever take a counter-offer if the root reasons why you tried to leave in the first place are never solved.

@vn

So you've basically admitted and confirmed that THE MAJORITY OF Internal Citi employees-job candidates are Low Calibre employees compared to External job applicants.

No one or very few people, are advocating for lowering the standards or barriers to entry for jobs or employers. However, as most posters on this and other websites are aware, Citi tends to attract the Dregs and Low Caliber employees that either couldn't hack it at GS and JPMC or couldn't get hired there at all.

Citi has MOSTLY Incompetent, Low calibre employees. That's why Citi has problems NO other financial institution has.

Unemployed people and people in general are in survival mode, especially in this Recessionary Economy where there are few job openings. Add to that, the few available job openings will get hundreds if not thousands of applicants.

Only HR and Executive "Management" in ALL companies who are so out of touch with the job seekers, reality (they live in a Matrix Bubble just like in the Hunger Games movies), and the job seekers' desperations due to money or medical expenses will place the blame on desperate job applicants for Blitz applying to jobs.

This is Not unlike applying to several competitive or Ivy League Universities. The reason why these Universities are seeing 50,000 to 100,000 high school students applying to EACH of Their schools compared to decades ago is because the students know the competition is tough. They may as well apply to as many schools as possible, and maybe they'll get a few good "Hits" and get admitted to favorable Universities.

@pq is that what I said? (It wasn’t, and you either know that and so you’re just trolling or you don’t recognize that in which case some reading comprehension classes might help) “the majority of…” does not mean “all”. There are plenty of excellent Citi employees and saying differently is just silly- same way saying “everyone at JP x-x or everyone at Goldman does x-x”. There are 220,000 of us and somehow we make tens of billions a year. So “every internal employee su-ks” is a patently silly take.

Anytime you massively lower the entry barrier for applying to a job, people will take the path of least resistance. Go on LI and see how many people click the “instant apply” bit - it’ll say “x hundred people applied”. Know how many of those are qualified ? Nowhere near the number that applied… probably less than 5-10%. Why would Citi, or any other bank, be different? It’s great to support internal mobility, but not if it encourages people who are simply unqualified for a role to apply for said role, wasting everyone’s time.

If you work at Citi and have evidence or suspect fraud regarding hiring practices, please submit a tip to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), or the Department of Labor. It is easy to review data like immigration status, race, internal transfers, promotions and contractor conversation details. They will investigate.

@e3 not confused - agree on the fake jobs, jobs posted purely to get third rate candidates that make a preferred candidate look good, etc. Goes on at most large companies where there aren’t well-enforced rules on local hiring, recruiting firms, etc. But people saying it’s impossible to get an internal job are incorrect - and I will tell you from experience, the majority of internal applications are nowhere near “acceptable” in the way an external application would be - people think every manager is going to do the legwork to figure out what a special snowflake you are and they can’t even submit up to date resumes or even pretend to be qualified for the job. They see C14/C15 and they just blitz apply

First of all, NEVER fill out an I9 Form for Headhunters-Employment Agencies. ONLY Your actual Employer must require you to fill out this Form.

You need to report to the DOL and USCIS any Headhunter that deceived you into filling out an I9 Form. Form I9 contains extremely personal and private information about you that can be misused or sold leading to Identity Theft.

Secondly, in addition to the Headhunters you listed, Stay Away from Glocap, Salomon Page Group, ASA Personnel, Winston Personnel, Michael Page International.

Read their Yelp and other Internet Reviews. The reviews all say the same. They're frauds, fake, mean, rude, etc..

In general, ALL Headhunters are frauds, fake, mean, rude, etc.

I've had several company-employers actually ask me during interviews how I found their job postings.

Each and every time I said it was from their own company-employer website or an internal referral, they literally said to my face they're glad, relieved it was NOT through a Headhunter Agency AND that Headhunters are animals and backstabbers. Yes, they used the words animals and backstabbers.

When even the companies-employers-clients are saying this about Headhunters, you know it's got to be true!

Think about it. Headhunters are Sales people. If they don't sell, they don't eat. If they don't place Job applicants-Svckers and collect their Finders Fees from the employer-company, they don't eat.

@gv Yes, material misstatement of fact on Labor Condition Applications - which are used to bodyshop cheap foreign workers - is a crime.

But proving outright visa fraud is very hard. Major banks and corporations like Citibank employ an army of lawyers to help HR maneuver the worker importation process. These visas are supposed to be for specialized talent (H1B). or for executives with market knowledge (L1). But they long ago became cheap labor pipelines.

There are those who claim that the economies of "globalization" create value for shareholders. And yes, with visa workers it is cheaper to cut a line of code. But what they won't tell you is that imported or offshore labor requires more layers of management supervision and executive oversight. So any savings from lower unit costs are swallowed by the bloated bureaucracy.

@jr Some recruiters are genuine, placing people in actual jobs. Many are scammers in the business of collecting your information - comp, manager contact info, etc. - which they sell because it has value.

Stay away from Infinity Consulting Solutions, Insight Global, Robert Half.

They post fake jobs, call you in to fill out forms (I9!), you meet with a "recruiter" who tells you that you su-k and you aren't qualified for anything.

Sadly the Headhunters-Employment Agencies are actually worse at doing this than the Employers.

Headhunters-Employment Agencies are the last resort, NOT first or even second resort for job seekers.

All they have are False Hopes.

@e3 Many of the jobs posted on Citi Workday are fake, but not all. There are ways of detecting which jobs are real and which are not.

  • Poor grammar, misspellings, and long run-on sentences?
  • Job posting and post close date less than a week?
  • Salary min and max are the same number? Indian decimal system (comma every two digits)?
  • Uber-generic job description?
  • Or uber-specific requirements designed to exclude every other member of the human race?

Citi HR posts fake jobs as a formally, really as a part of the pipeline for internally-selected H1B/PERM workers. It's required that HR post the job on Workday, but outside candidates will not be selected.

What the OP is saying is that Not only are the Citi job postings scarce, but ALSO, the job postings are fake because the Hiring Managers ALREADY chose and know who they're going to hire due to cronyism, nepotism, politics, being part of the same cabal, etc.!

Posting the fake Citi jobs on job boards including in Workday is only a formality and for legal reasons to make it look like the recruiting process is a fair process open to all job applicants-Svckers.

Waste of time, effort and False Hopes for the Svckers-Job Applicants.
