We're having trouble attracting top talent these days due to the plummeting reputation. All the bad reviews I keep seeing on the usual sites are true, calling out no leadership, no promotions, and no care. I wonder if the leadership thinks they can ride on Dell's old reputation forever.

I remember, a few decades ago, you would be taken out of the office for one or two weeks for training.
Now, that kind of training is non existent. Now, do it on your own time.
People that come into a job when they are young don't realize the progression of things companies have taken away. From benefits, to training, etc etc.

I remember when I first started at EMC to support the Clariion CX line.
They just had big layoffs for some support groups for an EOSL product. After I was established in the job I asked why they just didn’t retrain (upskill as they now say) existing employees? It was met with a blank stare.
This is exactly what you get when you have a college drop out as your leader and a bafoon as a COO..
They dont need domestic hires. Just get more HB1's.
Dell is mostly Indian run now anyway.
Not hating on our Indian friends, they are just trying to make a living too. But they work for peanuts and are afraid to point out issues.

Reputation? EMC had the great reputation for Enterprise Sales. I didn't see anything about Dell, in general, to warrant a great reputation.
I believe any external hiring goes right to JC for approval. They are allowing movement within the company.
They do not care. Anyone with half a business acumen can see that Michael Dell has begun breaking down the company in preparation for sale.
"Leadership" has stopped caring about top talent long ago. There is always someone needing a job badly enough to tolerate the horsesh-t here, so no worries.
Dell is a terrible company more so now than ever. Run.
