From manager HR training that started this past week:

Patterns of policy violation will result in loss of bonus and/or termination. New dashboards will be rolled out where managers can see the number of hours associates are onsite and we are expected to give warning before HR does. HR warnings will be first and last - meaning after the first warning you either straighten out or you will be terminated.

Too many people abused the work from home policy and connect week policy - coffee badging, moonlighting during working hours, and general not showing up to the office. You may not like the policy but not following it will result in consequences,

@ex you can always quit...unless you are not very employable and need to stay here.

@cy Actually, I expect i will get a bigger bonus because i will be very visible in all the theatre instead of trying to force a two hour uninterrupted block to build actual value.
Also, why the "tough guy" statement? how did anything I say get construed as being a tough guy? reread what I typed, consider your response, and consider how that makes you look.

@ev - It seems like there is one person that comes on this site that has to take the opposite opinion of everyone else in the company - s/he can't wait to be in the office, paranoid that people are stealing time from the company, taking delight in other people's misfortunes because s/he has a short commute or wants to go back to the days of old. I bet you like to participate in all the back to work forced fun and pedantic managerial emails telling us how to behave in the office. Deep down you are the one that knows that you can't get a job anywhere else because you have become dependent on Fidelity and built your identity around it. I have seen plenty of people leave and get better jobs.

Fidelity likes to act like it's full of integrity, but it treats it's people with no integrity. If people come in and act their wage, or become "maliciously compliant" with the in office "productivity theater" then so be it because that is not unethical. What is unethical are soft layoffs/attrition because they don't want people getting unemployment or severance because Abby needs every penny.

@OP that's a mature take. Why stay if you're going to compromise your integrity that much? Maybe you don't have any integrity. Or maybe, deep down, you know you can't get hired anywhere else.

@cy the funny thing is that they won't even notice that guy is working 30 min because management is clueless about the actual details of the work. They ask you to write up your own self-assessment so that they can copy it back into your reviews. someone said it best here in one of the comments "productivity theater". The biggest a55 kissers are getting the biggest bonus anyways so why bother. All this work is about tracking the work in JIRA, not actually doing the work.

I will wait until we are in office, and then no more multi tasking. drag me to a meeting, laptop stays closed. will attend every single invite, and drag coworkers to every single attend-able thing. virtual town halls and such will be large conference rooms. going to be a site malicious compliance champion of productivity theatre.
