@kb not gonna happen pal. You’ll be overworked until you quit or fired for cause before you are paid to leave. Just how the company operates. Don’t take it personally, it’s just business.

@fg Speaking as an older mobility tech; we get frustrated at the stupidity of those who drive desks. After years and years of careless office people - we do get crabby. But, pay us to leave 😘

IHX can be rewarding, you will see alot of managers who will be fired or promoted out so the building a relationship part is non existent

You will be generally safe for 1 year then they actively try to fire you ( it's either them or you mentality) keep straight and honest avoid being involved in "slamming " tactics ( adding things to a customer they didn't ask for )

Most techs will be nice, your job is crucial to add revenue to the unit , the angry techs are those older techs who hate to "scope " every second they make any changes on the fiber aka do their job

TLDR it stops being safe after the year mark

Terrible program and evidence of just how awful AT&T has become. 50% of their sales are outright fraud, slamming customers with services they did not order. ANY company that sends a sales person out when you called for a technician is a company you need to fire immediately. HVAC companies are notorious for it. I would go shovel trash at a landfill before taking that job, OP.

I used to support and worked with IHX a lot years ago. There have been some great people that came out of that world, but generally that’s a rare outcome. The division as a whole does has a rep for being very shady on sales. It takes a lot for individuals to prove they do things right, although chances are you are fired for not hitting your targets before that can occur, and thus most that hit numbers quick enough and keep their jobs are not doing it the right way. With all the cuts in sales and now AT&T basically outsourcing more of sales to solution providers and partners, the chances of jumping from IHX to something else before getting cut or learning to be shady for survival is slim.

@b4 IHX is the most corrupt role in the company! Shady Sellers who will do anything to get widget and lie to customers all the time. It's a Slam service when techs go out on repairs and a shady sales person follows them on a repair to try and add additional mobility sales when all the dam customer wanted was their fiber fixed. The company does not want to stop the fraud just like the federal government.

I worked with most sales channels and IHX in particular around mobility sales over a 2 year period, 2024 -2025 in my experience there was a substantial amount of shady business in IHX, false churn was a standard business practice as well as a lot of promises to customers that were never made with IHX leadership taking a blind eye. I’ve always wondered why leadership has not pushed harder for corporate compliance to analyze the false churn across IHX - and really for all mobility sellers across all sales segments - especially government public sector who are the absolute worst for false churn, If T really wanted to save money I guarantee that fixing the comp abstracts to stop false churn or pivoting to net add comp or firing the worst offenders would save millions.

Agree with others. Safe for a few months perhaps, not a career. Since you have the job, start looking for another one.

You will be filling in for wire tech as per senior leadership. Safety glasses, hard hat, rubber gloves and steel toe boots required. Always test your FVD (foreign voltage detector) daily to avoid electrical high voltage hazard while climbing poles and ladders, and contact with conductors. No need to worry, you will receive a couple days training.

There is no such thing as a safe position (outside of executive "leadership") at AT&T. Best of luck to you.
