Red October 🍒 is what y'all need to worry about
The irony of obsessively watching for signs of a layoff feels productive because your brain thinks it is gathering intelligence. However there is truly nothing you can do about it, other than prepare the best you can. Don't forget to enjoy your time on earth, it could end as abruptly as your employment.
@b3 Jesus Christ people are losing jobs and left and right. If you have time and money to fu-k around on a boat instead of job hunting then you probably don't need to be on this site.
@b3 yes lovey, and don’t forget to pack the grey poupon
@jd lucky you. Our target is 80% offshore . It's a mess. Quality and productivity has hit rock bottom. No AI can save us at this rate.
There will always be a possible layoff. That’s the reality you need to live with.
@kd you seem to be right where you belong. Stay miserable!
@kd ••• If you’re laughing, go ahead and laugh. Some of us who stayed in one place for 30 years actually learned a few things along the way. This person was appeared to be showing you the ending before you get there. But hey, maturity is apparently optional. Have the day your deserve!
Yes Aug 26. Google warn act filings
If you hear me laughing in the stall next to you, I'm just reading this last post on CHANGE from someone who stayed in the same place for three decades.
Stop sitting around and letting a company steal your peace.
Update your résumé. Network. Start looking. Don’t wait for a company to value you when their actions show they don’t.
I recently resigned from UHC after nearly 30 years. After decades of dedication, there was no “thank you” or “job well done”—just “go ahead and sign out; we’ll pay you for your two weeks.”
I found a fully remote job making more money than I was after nearly 30 years. That taught me something: your job is not your life, and your employer does not own your peace.
If you’re miserable, stressed, or sacrificing your health for a company that doesn’t appreciate you, start making your exit plan.
Stop being their puppet on a string. Take control of your life back. Your peace, health, and happiness are worth more
In tech or clinical?
Target for tech, 70+% offshore. 30% onshore. Then across 30% contractors.
@bp and how do you know this for sure
As more roles are being offshored. If you are in developer/ engineering roles you will be replaced sooner or later. This will continue till they realize how low quality everything is and slowly bring back onshore engineering roles.. it's a cycle.
Supposedly massive for Southern California
Summertime is Family time. Enjoy the break and take the boat for another spin around the lake.
No basis. Where did you hear this?
Yes. Don’t ask, assume weekly
Rumor is massive 8/20 action, but who knows.
Always.
