It's been four years. How have you fared? Better or worse?
For me, it has worked out better than I expected. It turned out that I didn't have to go back to work because of some luck with the performance of the portfolio. Spend most of my time relaxing but just started volunteering.
Four rounds of layoffs on my team from this one through 2023. I quit the day after the fourth round. No regrets. I still think about all the good people we lost. Hope you’re all doing better.
I left on my own in November of 2022 after 30 years, because of the pension, I took a lump sum, and already have doubled it. Oh, and they hired me back before I left, and I am still working as a contractor, and am paid very well. Life is good, gonna work another 4-5 years because they want me and need my technical skills. Life is what you make of it, and no one owes you a living!
@qn i hope so. there are groups for ex ford people, those who retired and those who were cut. a few people who stabbed me, over the years, are in the "nicely retired" group and when confronted, didn't remember passing me over for promotions and lying, etc... you're just a number to them.
@jn+1m0n9gjzx give it time and you will find out who stabbed you. Someone will just casually drop that info to you years later. Of course by then you wont care
I elected to retire in 2022. I have been enjoying life, travel, work on home projects, bbq, swimming, pickle ball 4 times per week, gym everyday with my wife, cooking, gardening, and staying healthy. No more stress.
Also one of the those whacked post 55 but before 30 years. I'm glad to be gone and felt nothing but relief at getting out. I didn't like losing my job, however, as I said the relief was palpable. My stress level has dropped, my weight has dropped and my family has noticed how much better I am doing mentally and physically. I'm in another industry, it's not perfect but it soooo much better than Ford. It's like I've been given a whole new lease on life. My attitude is good. I've been promoted twice in since I started and making more money than I ever did. My new employer treats people a lot better. It was an adjustment at first. I was completely distrustful of everyone but once I settled in, I like the environment. Not perfect, but definitely much better. So yeah, I'm good.
I was laid off twice: 2023 and 2025 —the entire team. Best of luck
@gv i was cut after 55 but before 30 years so i get your pain. 2024 and before the refiguring of the pension in december. worst part is i don't know who had what to do with me being cut - was it the person who i helped who then stabbed me or was it just some faceless a-s? doesn't matter now, i realize

I was one of those who was cut just short of 30/55, and it was definitely disgraceful. Ford stole a huge amount of my pension, and they did it in 2025, so my lump sum was in the toilet. I will never forgive them for how they treated me, but I'm glad it all worked out for you.
Good for me but I’ll always be disappointed at how others were treated. For senior management to cut people just short of 30/55 and not at least straight-line pensions was disgraceful. I found a local job in another industry, better commute, nice environment and comparable pay. I feel fortunate. Financially much better off due to lump sum during low interest, strong market since then, and 9 months severance pay bridged the employment gap.
