Too many rumors going around to just ignore them outright. Does anybody here know anything about potential layoffs in the next month or two?

@r9 - anyone over 50 (male or female) is a potential target. Especially if you’re not part of the IBM clique - if your esteemed mgr has that background…. Toxic environment and unfortunately, top performers and talented team members are targets if your group or division is headed by one of the old IBMers. They seem to always take care of their own- even if their “own” is low performing. Crazy.
@11b I got one too and ran it through ChatGPT. It was hundreds of people and for my round, white males over 50 were by far the largest group. Directors and above were basically zero....of course.
@w0 as a 50 year old male I was given the OWBPA liat showing all the ages and groups affected. I can’t publish it here but I assure you it was all over the place. Not just one division.
@r9 can anyone share real details? Groups, ish, wtvr... I find it to be a pretty tight lipped company. People say there's layoffs I haven't seen much this year. But hopefully all y'all are wrong unless you got good information share it

There will be a layoff around thanksgiving because there always is. No clue how many and what areas but it will happen. One pro tip, if you’re a male over 50, you should absolutely have your resume ready and your network working for you now.
@jn it was my Thanksgiving present last year. Very scary at first but I got through it and I couldn’t be happier.
Layoffs have shown a pattern of being in June and November. So you can count on another round this year around Thanksgiving. Instead of asking when it will happen, make an exit plan and save. I did and have no regrets.
@an pathetic response. This board provides way more and accurate information than the company ever has. You know when people find out what they “need to know” through official channels? When they suddenly have a 15 minute meeting hit their calendar from their manager on a Tuesday night for the following morning.
Definitely in a couple months or so.
