Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Why is it????

Why is it any time I talk to any chevron employee they hate their job? Why is it every time I talk to a Chevron subcontractor they hate working for Chevron? Seems like Chevron doesn’t give a fu-k about any local community. Let alone their own employees.

@wp you got to be absolutely mentally re--rded to think it’s ambition or laziness. Chevron su-ks plain and simple. Everywhere they start up they destroy local companies and move in the ones they are in bed with or the top field guys are taking kick backs to grant them the “bids”. Brown field and green field is full of nothing but stupid incompetent big headed no degree having minions that take orders like good little replaceable consumables. Chevron is ran by a spineless money hungry fuxk everyone team.

It’s all about attitude and perception. If you walk around talking and thinking about how much you hate your job you will attract negativity. If you have gratitude number one for having a job at all and number two for having a good job, you will see there’s a lot to be thankful for. The ability to pay for your kids, college, live a pretty good life build a decent retirement and a future. I bet you see a lot of negativity in your life and other areas too. And I bet you draw a lot of negativity in by looking for it.

Sounds like you are just hanging out with people who hate "work" period. I know those types. They say the same thing wherever they are and I have been at a few companies.

As a slacker I made it through 36 years. Those last six years were like heaven. Nobody wanted me in their project as I had retirement eyes and work habits. I had six weeks vacation. With 9/80’s and all that vacation plus holidays I was barely at work while my lump sum pension grew exponentially those last years of slacking. Thank you Chevron those last years were heaven!

Its all make work. Go to a field and its maybe 2 operators and the contractors actually building and maintaining.

I am convinced that Chevron is in a mass psychosis event since everyone knows their job is fake.

I like my job at Chevron. It is not perfect, but no employer is perfect. We get paid well and have good benefits and other oil and gas companies are doing the same thing we’re doing. It’s business as icky as it feels.

I really like working for Chevron. I don’t always love it. Stability of the job isn’t what it used to be. I don’t like the layoff cycles we have every few years. If I were able I would retire and play golf instead of having to go to work. But since I have a long way to go to retire, I am happy to be working at Chevron. I like the people and the pay.

There are plenty of people who don’t hate their jobs and are quite happy coasting through their 8-5 and taking 9/80s

Because there is a metric ton of BS that you have to deal with every day. The thing they really hate is that they have golden handcuffs on. Lots of money for minimal effort. Hard to get that without a lot of BS.

Well our CEO is a monster who only cares about himself so it all starts there. We have the most incompetent CIO in the business as well.
