More layoffs are set to roll out in America on Monday. I'm numb. 2.48 billion dollar revenue but they still decide to layoff the people making it happen. This is beyond parody. SHAPE survey comes out and says people are unhappy and Synopsys leadership decides to keep beating the dead horse. Unbelievable

@p8 nothing about that as well. I don’t have much on my laptop so idc. It is weird because they refused to answer any of my questions on that call. Got RSU for the very first time ever for being one of the top performers and then lay off 6 months after? I don’t understand
@p7 sorry to hear that. When will you lose access to your computer? By the end of today?
Yup, the 9:30 AM call was indeed bad news. No news about severance yet but they said they’ll be sharing options. Receive the update from my manager directly.
I would guess a 1:1 with a parallel manager means you'll be on their team here on out.
@mm I am in the same situation haha. My 1:1 is on Tuesday.
I got an 1:1 invite from a manager who reports to my skip who I work with too, not my direct manager or skip manager. Should I assume the worst for myself or for that manager?
My manager is based on different site.
@hc If you are over 40 in the US, you will have 21 or 45 days to sign the agreement, depending on the nature of the layoff. In that time, you can talk to an employment lawyer for help or try to negotiate on your own.
@hc Similar situation here, 60pct down yoy on RSUs, former Ansys employee.
Technically, there are no more Ansys RSUs, imho, as they all have been converted, hence they show up as July 17/18, 2025 grants on your statement for #8006 and #1153, respectively.
As far as bargain power goes, probably not a lot, imho... you may take what they may offer, as they would terminate you otherwise, anyhow.
But try it, in case they offer too little or -unlikely- nothing at all.
@ge I got my RSU for 2026 even though it is only 60% of what Ansys give to me in 2025. I got an unexpected 1:1 on Monday with my manager. Possibly, I rated the top management questions too low which made them notice me.
I wonder how the RSU works for the terminated employees. Will all RSU from ANSYS vested? I am over 40 and in US, may I negotiate the vesting schedule before I sign the agreement?
Has anyone in EMEA received a 1:1 meeting invite for Monday?
@a1 meetings going out sunday for my team
@e8 2026RSUs went to brown-nosers and those deemed indispensable only. In our org a number of people managers got less RSUs than their reports... so it's garbage to say managers kept it to themselves... the 5 layers of concrete kept it, for sure... all those wonderful directors, sr directors, jr/mid/sr vp's and all those other bloodsuckers.
RSUs are just as rigged as anything else in this bloody sharade.
@eb of course it was! They’ve been trying to get as many legacy ANSS to leave on their own.
@eb no idea whether it was targeted to people earmarked for layoffs but definitely an indication of management looking after themselves when RSUs were reduced.
@eb I also didn't receive RSUs like in previous years, so I anticipated a layoff was coming. However, I didn't expect it to happen now, right before the bug fix cycle I thought it would happen sometime in December.
@e8 lack of RSUs this year (legacy ANSS) felt like a tip-off for me. do you have good intel if that was a strategy... remove allocation from folks they plan to layoff?
For former Ansys people unvested RSUs should vest automatically if you are laid off as its < 18 months since the acquisition.
If you are an IC and were disappointed with your 2026 RSUs, if you got them, and are former Ansys ACE, you might want to ask your manager or skip during your layoff interview if they were told at a VP level not to allocate a significant % of the RSUs in your pool so they could be re-allocated to managers instead.
i was laid off in March. Invitation arrived on the same day ( 23rd of March) - they have not ruined my weekend at least
@a1 Everyone in my group that was let go last time received meeting invites on the same day as they were notified
Elliott is vulture fund garbage. They are going to pump the stock, strip the company and leave it for dead.
Close to 1500-2000 more are in layoff pipeline this year.
Elliot wants the layoff to continue and profitability to improve till the share price rises to 700+ so that they can book profit and exit.
So, now it’s a triple whammy, Ansys acquisition blunder + stupid CEO + Elliot effect.
SNPS stock performance has been terrible measured over the last 5 years vs SP500. There needs to be an executive shake up. As a shareholder, these results are not acceptable.
Are the folks that su-k up to Mr. G going to be safe? I'm assuming those same poeple would be reading this comment!
@OP Do you think they'll send out 1:1 meeting invites today for Monday to the people being laid off, or just set up the meetings on Monday and tell them the same day?
