If the move happens they will repeat the rto phases/resignations on top of all the firing already planned. Meanwhile DE will still be in LA 90% of the time because he will feel less important in another state. Why doesn’t anyone mention that whatever bankers/ lawyers who came up with the ticking fee are the most incompetent mo--ns and should be fired? Up until last month there was at least one quote claiming states will owe the ticking fee if they lose and that courts should schedule trial right away because of hardship of the fee. Turns out judge didn’t care and court doesn’t have to schedule things around bad decisions of DEs advisors. This will end as a settlement — eventually and I am sure states will not be reimbursing any fee. The states suing was 100% predictable as was getting a liberal judge in California. All those millions spent on advisors to get us all fired.

California is corrupt to the core. Politically, it runs like a Third World country. He could have easily avoided all this if he’d just given some cash to Democrats.

@kf how is Tesla flourishing stock is down $100 YTD but to stay on topic, yes you can find talent anywhere. Employees are just numbers.

Parts of California have been visibly declining for the last 5-10 years, and it doesn’t really look like things are going to improve. There’s just too much corruption on so many levels. I don’t really see a reason to stay there. Maybe just keep a small marketing office in LA.

It’s a fruitless threat because of his ridiculous self imposed ticking fee and only makes him look like the nepo kid, a narrative he tries avoid. First the BS op-ed, then if I don’t get my way I’m going to cause stress to very many co workers it’s almost comical if I didn’t have so many friends that still work there.

Moving will hurt the company more in the long run because people are going to have to move their families and make a decision if they’re going to want leave. I believe in the article it said that he spoke to the board and they overwhelmingly approved to move out of California. Its not like everyone that is involved is a seven figure employee like the board who can have multiple homes and move to Tennessee or wherever he plans to move. There are a lot of medium level workers that have decide if they are going to gamble and change their life and see how this train wreck plays out in another state. It is as horrible to think about how people tare gonna have to deal with this stress. Also no one has mentioned the Unions yet I’m sure the unions that represent the employees will have a word or two to say about this.

California is a joke

California has gotten out of control with the taxes and hostile climate towards businesses. If $500mil/ year can be saved we should just leave CA now for a state that is pro-business. Most of the proposed locations also have low or no state income taxes so that would be a win for employees

As our paychecks are held hostage to this train wreck, we roll the dice to either leave and not look back, or hold out for a severance, or possibly even stay employed until the next dice roll. In the meantime we can be assured this disaster has plenty more Fail left in the tank beyond this current embarrassment for which this thread addresses.

It could be a good move if executed well over the next 2–3 years. California is no longer an ideal environment for innovation and business, and Texas would probably be the best location.

Having an office in NYC would still be important, though.

It's hard to imagine that they would actually move all of a sudden, at least without a long drawn out timeline. The logistics would be overwhelming and the resulting gaping hole in the workforce would likely cause some departments to not even be able to function. But I'm not a billionaire, so what do I know?
