Getting laid off from Truist was the best thing that happened to me. It just took time to see it.

@q5 got the severance, bonus, stock vested. Much better than leaving of my own accord. Had a job at a competitor waiting for me with a 20% raise. Truist was great for me, just not in a way that was great for them.

You can be much more happier and start building time somewhere else .
Why stay somewhere and be miserable hoping for a layoff that may never come when the strategy is to push people to quit themselves? Why lock yourself into a perpetual cycle.
I'd only advise people to stick around if they are coming up to their 5 year pension.
But don't just stagnate yourself in hopes of something that may never come.
@q5 Encouraging people to quit is garbage advice. Make them fire you and collect severance. And after 20+ years you probably have a pile of cash to retire off. Most people aren't in your position. Pi-s off boomer.
I left on my own after 20 years and I can honesty say the relief is extraordinary! Don’t wait for the pink slip, write your own. If you haven’t started looking do it today.

Honestly if they lay me off, they'll be doing me a favor. No need to be up at night worried what the next Wells Fargo Flunky will come up when they get shot by the Good Idea Fairy.
