I'm stuck in this weird space where I can't bring myself to quit, but I secretly hope they lay me off. It would feel like being released from prison, finally free. I love the actual work, but the environment makes it unbearable. Half of me is terrified of getting cut. The other half is waiting for it.

I’ve been in this mode for 2+ years. Please let this be it. They pay me 130k to do 2-4 hours work a week for almost 2 years now. Outrageous. Anybody remember the way it used to to be? A long time ago.. oh well.

Before wishing to be laid off, ask yourself:1. Do you have emergency fund for monthly expenses which can last 1 to 2 yrs? It is freaking hard to get a job. Even if you tailor cut ATS compliant your CV, get interviews… there are 100 to 200 other applicants applying for same position. It is disappointing to get rejection numerous times. If you do not have 20 yrs tenure, your severence might only last 6 to 8 months.; 2. Do you have other skills apart from what you use in current job? ;3.If you are in tech job, most jobs may not be in the state you live unless you live in TX, CA or WA, how willing are you to relocate,; 4. If you are unable to find job in your current state where you live, can you change career to adopt to what is available in your state? Regular Expenses and unexpected expenses doesnt stop. Health insurance alone will cost more than 1,000$ in Cobra or in Marketplace per Month for a family of 3. Add a mortgage and car and living expenses…..5,000$ gone in 1 month. Instead of worrying or silent quitting, find a job which is in demand and arm yourself with new skill before you get laid off. if you are 55 yrs old + and have a million in 401k, there is rule of 55 and rule of 72t for 401k. wish yourself a happy forced early retirement in advance. If you are younger and dont have enough money saved, tough luck….Lots of Good luck. Stay off this website, you will just worry more and get depressed going through the threads. Start saving and check your future prospects.Have a plan in place ready to execute once you are laid off. Good luck.
Same boat as you. If it makes you feel better I think lots of people are feeling this. TMO is just taking a turn for the worse and it is telling for so many people.

If you’re serious about wanting to be let go, tell as many people in management in your chain of command that you want to leave. I did and I got my wish. Best decision ever!!
Same boat, but in my case, I dodged the bullet back in January and I felt terrified it could be me next. Then I felt like I wanted to be me, the one getting laid off. The day came in June. We were told July would be our last month. I felt relieved. I was starting my garden leave this coming week. I was supposed to leave and find another job and could not get myself to apply somewhere else. I ended up getting a new position before I even started my garden leave. So many emotions at once. I call it Magenta Stockholm syndrome.
Yea at least 50% feel this way. I keep praying I get hit next round lol
