Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Staples for Sale?

Wall St insiders say Sycamore is shopping Staples. Syc sees end game for value by ‘28. Anyone else hearing anything?

GCC syphoning $$$$ at light speed, triggering Syc bailing.

@1dc I hate to be the one to tell you but the ex employee is right. The biggest layoff in staples advantage history is coming soon. I’m sorry. But the numbers aren’t there and top performers are going with this one.

@1dc You know nothing more than what you manager wants you to believe. All lies to drive you for a minimal return. You are lint as far as they are concerned. Keep enjoying the Kool-Aid.
Il work for a real company, making real money and enjoying people like you heading toward the inevitable end of unemployment. Enjoy your job and keep “ ki-ling it” until it all ends. You’ll keep hearing from me until the bankruptcy. Sleep well….

@153 this just goes to show you know nothing. Definitely not GPO and crushing it. Also if your “contact” here knew anything they could see that actually majority of reps are above quotas. You’ll never have 100%, but there is more people succeeding then I have seen in the last 10 years.

So stop coming on here crying that you’re an ex employee and want to see us fail. Worry about your current employer. Cause no one here cares about you.

@a3 Ummm...not sure where you get your info. Hiring is active - check out the site with jobs posted. Hasn't been "job cuts" in years, morale is pretty strong where I work.

@af Clearly you don't know what is going on inside. Party City has been a huge success.

@14s Defensive, are we? You must be a real dynamo…..Are you being fed GPO “wins”? Those are the only MM reps coming close to KPIs because shooting fish in a barrel is pretty easy. Total favoritism for the small cohort who get these.

Amazon initiative is a joke. They are still eating your lunch on tail spend. You are naive if you don’t believe that.

Using Copilot is not understanding AI. Neither is Chat GPT or Prompt Cowboy. Most of you millennials use it to compose because you can’t write a cohesive thought or sentence on your own.

I can guess who your manager is but can’t post it because it will be taken down.

As for su-king… How many times have you been to sales excellence? 7 for me. My guess is zero for you. I’m happy (not working there), healthy (not working there) and wealthy (from a career of accomplishment) Are you? I had no problem finding a new job because I am better at what I do than you will ever be. Hahahaha…

Enjoy the Kool-Aid. Staples is a tu-d.

@p8 I hit all my KPIs and yes I had impact from the quota mistake, but still had more then enough to finish strong. Ive closed quite a few Amazon deals and is the AI with no issues. Also Im not micro managed at all.

If someone is not hitting these KPIs they just don't have the work ethic is not hard. Im sorry you and your friend here must just su-k at their jobs.

If you truly apply yourself and work you can do really well for yourself. I’ve been under countless managers and changes and not a single one has ever micro managed me. Go get a life and cry about your current employer cause we don’t want you here. You are an EX employee for a reason… you weren’t good enough.

@p8 you got serious issues if you want a company to declare bankruptcy and put thousands of people on the street with out income. You are part of the problem not the solution.

@sw how many parties are planned at the GCC this week? Or free give aways or photo shoots for LinkedIn propaganda? All the while Framingham is overworked and underpaid with layoffs around the corner.

@p8 Prior Staples leadership destroyed the company way before the Sycamore purchase. Sycamore probably extended Staples life beyond what it would have been. And obviously Sycamore continued the layoffs and shoddy management

@ek overheard a business leader ask another so exactly what does this GCC deliver? The cost of the GCC is an issue at top levels

@nn What flavor is the Kool-Aid?
Even funnier if you are a senior. Total micro management. Ridiculous KPI’s. Incompetent “leaders” that have never accomplished anything. You aren’t allowed to sneeze without permission.
How did the Anaplan glitch work out for you at the end of the quarter?
Are you “leaning in” on the Amazon initiative? What a useless waste of time.
Are you using AI as a buzz word without really understanding it?
Did your closed opportunities win/ramp or did you just game the system to meet the closed/won KPI?
Yes, I still know many people throughout roles and all of them hate their job. All are close to retirement and are holding on or are looking for a new job.
I post to educate people what a cr-p company Staples is. I spent a lot of years there and it was a great company until Sycamore destroyed it. I won’t be satisfied until it declares bankruptcy.
You would find nothing but positive remarks from me on my current employer page.

@jr Actually, I’m a senior. Second, if you’re no longer at Staples, you’re just here being negative and no longer know what’s actually going on. You must really miss working here if you’re constantly checking up on Staples. Direct your negativity at your current employer and stop trying to undermine our success.

@jq Are you MM in Maitland? You are on the AA team. Your base is so low that it wouldn’t surprise me if you got a larger COLA if you could perform. Most of your ilk are terrible and turn constantly. I used to refer to them as goldfish because a new one would be in before you ever knew the last one’s name. Those of us that were in the big leagues got next to nothing regardless of how much we beat quota by. Why, because we made too much. I made Sales Excellence 7 times before I got fed up with it and left to make more money elsewhere.
Staples is failing and your small budget won’t move the needle. Find a good company to work for if you are as good as you think you are.

@dx 1%? You must be under performing I’ve had 4% to 6 % last few years in the mid market inside sales. You can be negative, but some of us actually enjoy what we do and perform at a top level. When you do that, you do get rewarded for the level of effort you put in.

@at I can confirm GCC works at a snail's pace and US leadership could care less. Zero expectations for GCC to perform anywhere the level of the US teams. It's about the cost "savings" only.

@dn There is not a single big bank that would underwrite an IPO for this disaster of a company. SPAC maybe but unlikely.

It would be embarrassing if Staples did ever have an IPO. No one in their right mind would purchase shares in a company with so much debt and such poor fundamentals. Shares would drop by half on day one.

Bankruptcy is the path forward. Sycamore will make far more money by doing this.

Keep dreaming about that 1 percent cost of living increase each year until the house of cards crumbles.

@a3 the negativity on here is crazy. Are there issues with Staples 100% but people blow it way out of proportion on here. As much as people hate it we are growing $. Is it huge growth no, but growing and making moves to be stronger.

Anyone who thought we would not ever be sold is just d-mb, of course we will be sold. That is what all PE firms do, however it is far more likely they take us public and keep % of share to continue to make money from Staples while making a huge profit by going public. I could be wrong, but that is the logic path forward,

Can anyone vouch that the GCC is actually doing any work or has completed any projects? Has anyone been asked to train GCC personnel?

Wouldn’t shock me. The debt levels are very high. Even Sycamore can’t turn a profit.

They need to close a ton of stores and go back to basics. This Party City cr-p has been a fail. The only non-feature that works is Amazon (and UPS in a smaller extent).

@OP who would buy this cesspool? Sales in B2B are shrinking. Humungous debt at over 11% to service it. Principle is not being paid down without asset sales. I.e. DEX…

Business development can’t close a window, let alone a sale. All talented reps have been laid off from Enterprise. MM is a clown show.

Marketplace is the only thing growing at razor thin margins.

Stores are closing. Partnerships with Amazon, Door Dash and Party City are not profitable and are not driving store traffic.

Company is only eking out a profit by constant job cuts. No longer filling open roles to cut costs. Inept management from top to bottom. Morale is at an all time low. People hate working at Staples and are holding on for a different job.

Essendent is being shut down and liquidated. Expect Staples to declare bankruptcy or be broken up well before it is ever sold whole.
