Thread regarding Cengage layoffs

Just in case

Healthcare is volatile right now. Even with no rumors, I want to know what Cengage's severance looks like, what it includes on that front. Does anybody know where I could find out?

Cengage gives two weeks per year up to 36 weeks.

@vm they gave a lot of long timers 12 months severance. They do what they want.

@vm bruh, I’ve read some fake news on this site, but this thread really takes the cake. Good luck trying to get any severance, this place doesn’t payout. Ever!

And there is often a cap on the length of severance. They only gave me nine months, although I should have gotten a lot more if the two week for every year of service "rule" was applied.

It may not be in every package but some are getting the employee share of insurance paid through the severance period.

So employee on the hook for the amount they’d have paid through payroll deductions.

The migration to Cobra is not graceful - expect a few weeks of messed up coverage and Caremark will refuse to ship. This can be fixed once the paperwork clears.

In some states, they have to pay out vacation regardless. And from what I have heard, severance isn't a policy and the calculation can change anytime.

@OP 2 wks for every year of service and they pay out your unused vacation days. Funny bc if you quit they do not pay out your vacation days.
