Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

They’re Getting Desperate

They want to hire a “confident attorney” to be the enemy of the employees. Yep, they aren’t kidding when they say they hate us. Instead of hiring for an “Employee Advocate”, they want another yes-man who will protect corrupt executives.

@vs They pathologically fear WARN notices because Sammy and the C-suite must submit a report to the Department of Labor, local government entities, and media outlets. Public disclosure screams to the market that the company is failing, sparking immediate drops in investor confidence, and damaging their brand (not that hasn't happened already).

More or less like how do we lay them off without doing a warn notice?

Fun watching the scramble by the C-suite, and they showed their hand with this job posting.

The toxic environment they have created isn't a sign of strength - it's a psychological bluff designed to force people to quit for free so this company can dodge unemployment claims and skip out on contractual severance outlays. They are projecting their internal panic downward because they realize they have absolutely zero leverage left. Let their broken systems spin.

The tables have turned. It's time for management (including the C-suite, VPs, Directors and Supervisors) to live in absolute fear and uncertainty. The workforce is watching management's every move and it's being documented.

Employment attorneys are going to make legal mince meat out all of you.

I'm familiar with a few instances that would benefit Canon and their HR to have an "employment counsel". Looks like one of them was enough to take seriously.

Obviously this lawyer will be working first and foremost to protect Canon from liability. However, that also means that they will need to keep HR in check...at least when there is a potential legal issue.

So folks, document everything. Familiarize yourself with state and federal worker protections. If you document and build your case well enough, their new lawyer might just force HR to behave.

@a1 oh stop it. It's not like we aren't stressed enough. That was 1 of about 10 things listed in the job description.

More restructuring and layoffs are on the horizon. 🥱

In the job description:

“Draft, review and negotiate separation, severance, and release agreements in connection with reorganizations and reductions in force”,
