Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

if you're still working at NCR at this point then this loss if on you. If you're competent you could have easily found another job by now, so please dont complain about 7 hours in the office. Think of it as a tax for your complacency

@x4 well if you look up who owns NCR and who owns pretty much everything else, it’s the same stockholders. So unless it’s a mom and pop, your money is going all to the same pockets.

@wk Ah yes, the economic miracle of RTO: apparently my money only supports our customers if I spend it near the office. If I buy from the exact same customers near my home, I guess the money doesn’t count.

Let’s call it what it is. The 7-hour mandate isn’t about “supporting our customers.” It’s about control and being able to see bodies in seats. If productivity and results were actually the priority, those would be what we measure—not how many hours someone’s badge says they spent inside a building.

RTO is a baseless and useless power move. Nothing more, nothing less.

Apparently, this is company wide. The longer we’re in the office, the more they can track that we’re actually working. On top of that, all the money we’re spending commuting is basically going right back to our customers. We gotta spend money so they can make money and pay their bills, so we can have a job and paycheck. Full circle, I guess.

Can confirm this is true. One of my coworkers got into a conversation with the manager and he was asked to come in 7 hours a day. We are in software org.

This is ridiculous.

When the green-light was given for the dashboard release, Finance and IT were one of the first orgs to implement a minimum 7-8 hours in-office requirement... So software wasn't necessarily the first to implement, but I have a feeling it was pressured to follow it.

I left Voyix earlier this year, but I knew the poor folks who were basically forced to create this dashboard. For context at the time, global real estate was under George Sloan, so he owned it.

Before I left, I remember the same dashboard guys coming back from a meeting, looking pretty down. From what I overheard, George yelled at them for trying to give people leniency and for showing a higher number of compliance overall. To him, the building "didn't feel occupied", and George and Jim Kelly agreed that engineers aren't doing their part to follow compliance to the fullest. I'm sure their sentiments reached Johnson, hence the pressure on the engineers... pretty insane.

I think the micro-managing is going to be worse, so get out of there while you can. I don't see how office attendance and leetcode assessments will help the company make money (besides getting you laid off).

@jy are you talking about those, who come before/after huge traffic jams, and continue to work another 10 hours each day after they visited the office, for their managers to see that the people are still doing whatever they are told to? Those?

Oh hi , so for which office is this ? in the US or worldwide? Since we have people coming in 2 hours a day 2 times a week , others leaving 3 hours early, others coming in 3 hours late and staying 3 to 4 hours in the office, anyone have written documentation of this? Anyone have 7 hours in writing or just someone heard something again?

This is more restrictive than the "core hours" we had in the move, with 10-2 being the core hours to be in and available or whatever.

I hope they make an example of the higher ups who’ve taken over in-demand meeting rooms as their private offices, but are in GHQ zero hours per week.

Different “compliance tiers” for hours in the office now. I’m glad we’re focusing on the important stuff!

They just spent millions on the Customer Showroom ( smoke and mirrors expo). So they cant have an empty building looking like a ghost town.
