Advice from someone who was laid off

No matter what happens, getting laid off changes everything. I was laid off before I started at State Street and the day after I got laid off from my old job, I called realtor to sell my house. At the time I was 51and had 8 years left on my mortgage... — read more

So many bitter/disturbed people on here

Some of you need help. I genuinely hope the majority of you are troll accounts and not genuine State Street employees that I may meet in the elevators, or SST is genuinely screwed.

For the ones who had to actually do the layoffs...

You’re also getting laid off. It’s a ritual. They make you do the cuts. You agree. You do it for the ‘company ‘.... You tell yourself it’s okay. It’s not. You’re going to be disposed off as well. You’ll soon see... That is all.

I Got Out in Time

I sense it since 2016 that SST was going to lay off a lot of people. Every time someone quit or found a new job they never replaced them. Then in 2017 when they force us to trained all of the Indian new hires online. I was out with a new job in 2... — read more

Stressed out and overworked

I was laid off after 25 years of faithful service , but to be honest it was probably the best thing to happen to me. During the last 12 years I lived with the stress of the yearly layoffs ever single year. Seeing the dept where I work have the staff... — read more

State Street Severance Package

Anybody that has been let go, are they giving 12 weeks plus two weeks per year or just the two weeks? If they keep you the 60 days, does severance begin after the 60 day waiting period?

So how does getting laid off work?

Does someone walk over to your desk? Is an invite put on your calendar? What if your working from home that day? Is it done a certain time of day? Also, are you entitled to your 2018 Bonus?

Maybe we should be careful what we wish for

First of all, I don’t want to be taken the wrong way. I applaud that the new CEO had the guts to start cutting from the top. Regardless of that, I see some hypocrisy in our perception of this News. When nothing is happening, or regular workers are... — read more

Can anyone advise what the Severance Package is for BPs and MDs?

This will be much larger than just senior management

I know everybody is happy to finally see senior management face some consequences for what they've done to this company, but I wouldn't celebrate too much. Not because they don't deserve it, they certainly do, but because none of us are safe right... — read more

Any raises in the future?

It’s odd how all companies give raises and bonuses and STT only selectively hands them out. That’s wage attrition. Hoping you can barely sc-ape by and leave for a new company never to fill the void.

State Street no longer cares about workers

Sorry the job market is not kind to people over the age of 50, most companies view us as expensive workers. So they prefer to hire the cheapest lowest skilled workers they can find. Even if you do find a job its going to pay you 30% to 40% less than... — read more
