What was your severance and notice in the latest layoffs in California? I'm wondering if they keep on the payroll through the WARN period, with healthcare, then give you a lump sum severance after the WARN period expires?

Hired an attorney and sued. Settled for 16x salary lump sum, one year full health insurance (not COBRA), and all unvested RSU’s.

I got laid off from VMW in March. Got laid off from Symantec in 2014 as well.

Update, I paid Hock 5 months salary and my grandmothers wedding ring when I got RIF’d. at least he didn’t ask for my änal virginity.

Update: 6 paychecks from date of notification, so healthcare,
401k etc was covered until end of May.
Severance was minimum 8 weeks. Plus 2 weeks for every year over 5. Up to a max of 18 years.

Received 60 days pay while on WARN (with benefits and 401k, vesting) 2 weeks/year service lump sum pay after that. Email to zoom meeting the next morning. No warning. Absolutely no TOI which is crazy but just shows your job is pointless.
At VCF it wasn’t too bad. Zero notice but rumors abounded so it wasn’t a surprise.
The severance formula was 4 payperiods plus 1 week/year of service. Plus I was on payroll for almost 3 months!
It’s not too bad. I’ve spent my time studying up on AI, working on a little project, and watching lots of po-n.
No one will tell you, at least not Broadcom. They are here to NOT help you, nor make you leaving any less mysterious.
Just move on and look for another job. A HR AI bot would be a 10x improvement.
