Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Marketing change?

One of the many “Chiefs” of marketing (ET) is leaving. Will the marketing bloat and rot be fixed? They need to clean house and flatten that org. It is chaotic. So many of the high paid leaders brought in by the last CMO have done their damage and left.

@r3 Adas unit also carries people who are SDRs that perform BDM sales functions. Her marketing unit is about contract pipeline generation and lead routing to eligible sales folks.

So Ada runs it all now? Do sales and partner leaders know this? Corporate marketing in Bellevue seems so insulated from the global day to day pipeline reality, no?

@hm If you ignore affirmative action, she was quite qualified, she was hired at a time in SAP where there was no DEI (15+ years back). Many of the challenges that affected her were beyond her control. She wasn't the only one being pushed out btw. Many others like Jeff C, Salva L, etc. were pushed out to. They cut out all of the solution functional areas and consolidated them under the Autonomous Enterprise. This was done so they can flatten the org and shrink opportunities to get promoted. Sadly many people left or were told to leave.

She was a DEI hire, good she has gone and the anti-white DEI nonsense is coming to an end.

If you mean Etosha that’s very old news. She left in June and had announced that ages before, she was fed up with management. She is an excellent leader,

@af Without marketing, they wouldn't have had all these events to go to. Do you think Sales, Product Management and Customer Success will be the ones to organize the logistics and customer registrations? Get real. Watch the pipelines tank.

@OP Didn't they fix that by removing JW who has departed for Amazon? You know, the Peeps lady? Ada her pet was left behind.

It's not really her fault. They brought a bunch of people from Microsoft and wanted to deep clean out entrenched management and turn everyone into marketers. That transformation is done. She has left, is taking a good break from the SAP nonsense and moving onto better things.

Give it a rest! Marketing is not the reason why the stock went up! Infact, in TECH, Marketing is the least valuable CMO function, thats why you never hear about legendary Tech CMO, whereas in consumer products, Marketing is one of the core functions.

Not a single CMO or Marketing professional bought in Talent, infact, the talent came because it knew what it could fix

disagree. last CMO is the main reasons SAP's narrative was clearly marketed and the stock price went up. We started talking about the modular suite, SAP as a whole, product truth, and the HPOM / semester plan, which helped us scale. They were brought in as talent to transform SAP, and now that the transformation is more or less complete, they are moving on. From Europe perspective good talent in Germany is limited; most top talent is in Switzerland, Spain, or France.
