Low performers get lower expectations and less work. High performers get dumped on. The raises are basically the same. And it keeps happening.

Oh sure, performance is all about how close you sit to the manager’s desk, right? Forget actual responsibilities or results — apparently the real KPI is how well you play the “favorite.” Nothing says “healthy culture” like rewarding proximity over contribution. This situation happens when there are no checks/blances on the recommendations
And it doesn't stop there. These managers don't want your input — if it's not their idea, it's dead on arrival. They walk around like they're untouchable, straight-up telling people they manipulate everything. No idea where that confidence comes from, but the playbook never changes: self-promoters get the spotlight, the people doing the actual work get buried and the favorites get taken care of. Everyone sees it. Nobody says it out loud
Only su-kers are try hards at this point or doing anything. Be like the rest and wait for severance
Why be frustrated? This has been going on a long time. Learn to say no. If management can lead with a blind eye, so can you! Good luck!
Maybe the next time you touch the hot stove, you won't burn your hand. Go ahead, try it. What do you have to lose?
