The numbers are loose for sure. So far the rough estimate seems to be around 10 k reduction and about 5k of that was q1 2026. Total headcount is currently about 219k. Jane's original target was 180k FTE and they have spent $800M in severance the first part of the year but earmarked more money for severance the remainder of the year. So, back of the napkin, cuts are going to ramp up and go deep the rest of the year. Per Gonzalo; “We may look at accelerating some of the structural efficiency actions and, in that case, take more severance in the second half,” What's interesting is that Citi is also hiring as we have seen. Mostly contractors to expand wealth and finance (really odd because if you know anyone in wealth it's a total $hit show). So if I were to guess, more cuts in compliance jobs as the CO and oversight go away, and hires for contractors and overseas.
