Centene started with layoffs in 2021 after acquiring WellCare, due to promising most of WellCare employees to keep there jobs. When Centene decided to rebrand their Medicare product (AllWell) to WellCare a decline started. After acquiring WellCare, members talked to people all over the USA, not just in the state they lived, this also caused a decline on membership. Cut the fat at the top, let the company go back to the way it was ( talk to people in your state that know your state and resources). Centene was a great company to work for until 2021, acquiring WellCare.
These are my thoughts and observations!

I miss the company culture with WellCare before Centene bought them out. Actually felt appreciated and had a healthy work life balance. The good ole days.
So... Centene was better before acquiring Wellcare! Wellcare was a great company before joining Centene!.. Hmm.. it is definitely not a peanut butter meets chocolate moment. I am going to go out on a limb and assume these two companies combined were supposed to grow larger then they have. but both of these companies were pretty much in most of the markets together accept for the medicare product. Is this a shareholder mis projected merger outcome ?
@OP WellCare was never the problem. We were doing just fine before joining this cr-p show of a company. Additionally, WellCare had the bigger and stronger Medicare population vs. Centene. WellCare employees understood the importance of working together. The culture from Centene and some of the people are horrible. They are rude, disrespectful, and unhelpful. I’ve met a handful of great people but I am over it and can’t wait to get out of here,
@OP i dont have knowledge about the Medicare side but for Medicaid, a decline started when they went to shared services. That whole thing was a sh-t show and it has continued to get worse since

Might want to check that last quarterly financial call from 7/28. Medicare is doing just fine.

Wellcare went national and pulled out of less profitable areas and grew PDP. We're talking about a 4M PDP membership increase since 2022. From a members' view, Medicare Advantage pretty much su-ks regardless of who the HP is.
WellCare has always been known as a low quality plan plagued with historical frauds and sanctions…. While I can agree all workers from WellCare are not all the same but I will say, they lack common sense and logic …. Worse thing Centene did was buy WellCare …. Also they are the ones who brought in the outsourcing….. if you know you know
Trust, most of us old Wellcare peeps wish we were never bought by Centene. So much went downhill for us as well.
Although I will say most of the Centene people I work with are good people. Just don't like the systems we work on and some of the policy changes.
I wish we never acquired them. Every single WC person I've worked with has had no clue what they're doing. They have been the least tech savvy people I've met and love to throw meetings on the calendar without checking availability or that they have the correct people in the meeting.
@OP - to others like myself once Centene acquired WellCare, the WellCare employees experienced a negative feeling towards Centene. WellCare was a great company prior to the acquisition which ruined the WC culture.
You can’t necessarily blame WellCare. Prior to being bought out to Centene WellCare in my department only called home states. That changed after Centene acquired us.
