If you lost your job today and rode out your unemployment where would you be or where would you go afterwards and make what you make at T? So many people post how they hate their jobs but they are still working for T and complaining with every breath they take.

This is hard. Wait, no its not.
If you are a capable and competent employee at AT&T, you will find another job. If you have a strong resume, education, documented experience, and a good network, you will be fine. I keep a portfolio of all the products and projects I've participated on or led. I keep track of my accolades and achievements as well as every single review from the year I started to the present. I even ran them through AI to help me generate a short bio that incorporates that feedback without making me sound like a DB.
But, gosh, Jimmy! I'm over 50! I should be scared by all the young people who want to devour my brains, or at least take my job. Please, I'm waiting. I want my severance because i really want to spend a few weeks traveling in Spain. I think that between my severance, PTO, and severance, I could probably have a pretty amazing trip. And, who knows, maybe I'll do a little networking while I'm in Barcelona working on my Catalan.
What will you do? Sit around the house watching redtube videos, drinking THC seltzers while complaining to your stupid cat about how hard it is to find a job?
I was force retired. I chose not to move so had no other option.
I’m now a driver for GrubHub and DoorDash. I’ve made a couple of deliveries to AT&T employees who were WFH from hotels at the beach.
Surplussed 2024. New Job a month later. 25% more pay. Full remote. They are out there.
Threw the severance into high yield, letting pension lump grow, moved 1 mil 401k into a separate account. Life is so much better away from T.
I was surplused 7/1. I’m retired.
@OP I don't hate my job . . . I hate my company. I don't hate my direct supervisors . . . I hate the C-Suit and the board. For now, as long as I get along with my coworker and my supervisor, I will try to get along.

Currently looking and networking. Job market is one of the worst in decades. Still too young to retire, but old enough it’s hard getting hired anywhere these days. Maybe you haven’t heard but all those AI HR platforms are screening out anyone over 40.
