Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Regrets who's got them? Do you regret taking the VSP? What about the people that didn't take it?

It seems like many people are already regretting their choice.

Hoping the ppl laid off today were not people eligible for VSP and choose not to take it. And if their are some in that predicament, I hope the severance is still a tidy sum that will get you by. Best of luck.

I regret it! My separation date is November 2027. I had no idea they were gonna push it out that far. If I had known that that could be a possibility, I wouldn’t have taken the VSP and just let them fire me so I would be eligible for unemployment. Knowing that I cannot hang in there for another 16 months I will have to quit this cr-ppy job to keep my mental health intact. So basically I leave with nothing… Centene su-ks.

No regrets!! NJ leadership is a circus. Cannot wait to be out of here and leave it to leadership to clean this mess and actually have middle management work instead of drowning their soon to be non existent employees with work that wasn’t theirs

Not at all! As more employees reveal they’re leaving, middle management is in scrambles. Their “go-to” person won’t be here and that reflects on their ability as leaders to still get the job done. Sadly, my PL is an airhead that faked their way up the corporate ladder and now they don’t know how to get things done. My dept will suffer my loss honestly but I’d rather walk away with some cash than continue to miserable here.

Mild regrets not taking it.

Job market is utter sh-t. Not landing interviews - even for roles below mine here.

Regret not taking it, the looming org structure changes + good leaders in my org took it. Had I known then what I know now I would have taken it, I was on the fence. Oh well, maybe next year :)

I don't regret one bit. initially wasn't going to take it. However, a coworker made me think about it. She ended up taking hers back. Me..I kept it. I took the whole two weeks we were given to really ponder on it. I ultimately decided to leave it. Especially when they sent the email basically saying "hey if you really didn't want to take it, you can recend your app" Nope. Something's fishy. After the second deadline ended. I did have separation anxiety because I genuinely loved our leadership team but that did last long after I realized I can now go and pursue my radiology degree. And I felt it wasn't going to get any better from here.

@bx Agreed! We didn’t have all the facts regarding end dates when making a decision because mine for sure would’ve been different. It feels illegal but unfortunately I know it’s not

No regrets at all! They’re paying me 30 weeks pay and prorated bonus to leave. Yes please. There will be more layoffs this year and more in 2027. If they lose 40% of their membership, as is expected, more people will have to go. This place is toxic and I can’t wait for 9/4. I’m glad I get to burn 10 days of PTO so I only have 12 days of work left.

@a5 exactly how I feel. I love my job, but not in any position to be without employment and medical insurance. Had I known I could take this and still be employed for another year, I would have taken it. I say this because I see the ship sinking financially, and eventually we would all be replaced with either ai or lower paid inexperienced people.

@OP zero regrets I signed the same day we received. I could see the writing on the wall. I feel like there will be extra work load for some but AI has already been in place to do the work for longer than we realize so the work load might not be as bad for long. I feel like the swamp is being drained and I wouldn't doubt if the big wigs have been behind a lot of the fraudulent enrollments etc. I don't trust anyone!
This place has gone to pot!
I have a 2026 leave date and I am counting down the days and I have a lawyer on standby who has actually handled wrongful doings with this company and wins, so already familiar with it all in case I get 'managed' out or if there is ANY retaliation whatsoever! Noone is safe.
Good luck to everyone. Prayers.

No regrets here either. I like what I do, just not the caseload I carry. I didn’t want to fall under any other manager that has never done the job but then will parrot #what’s your barrier?” Do you want a list or just the top ten? Change is a constant. I grateful for the time and grateful for the opportunity to leave on 9/4. Best of luck to all regardless of your choice.

I have not heard of anyone who is regretting accepting the VSP… everything points to it being a good option in the current situation and with SL indicating there is still at least 20% on the chopping block to be let go (1 in 5) I believe It made more sense to accept the VSP if it was offered. My heart goes to the employees who were not offered but will eventually be affected by the lay off. Let’s keep hoping for the best.

I don't regret it one bit. Never had one second where I felt regret and I'm usually a basket case in this kind of situation.

I’m leaving 9/4. no regrets, but I am a little sad.

it’s going to be a wild 12-18 months for the industry. I am not willing to ride the ride at this stage in my life.

I am leaving on good terms with my leader and my business partners, so I’m confident the door will remain open if they stay with the organization or go elsewhere.

I don't regret taking the VSP but I'm beyond frustrated that my separation date is in late 2027. It feels like the company is dangling the money over my head so that I remain in this toxic job situation for another 16 months with no idea of what my actual severance package will look like until late next year. It feels like the ultimate sign of disrespect from them because they would get to use me up until my separation date and yet this whole VSP scenario also makes me want to leave before my separation date...which would ultimately benefit them in the end because then they wouldn't have to pay me the severance. It's a win/win scenario for them and in the meantime I'm burning out.

I do not regret my choice. Better to take the leave with benefits than waiting to be laid off with whatever your state is willing to give in unemployment (if any). It’s obvious this company is going under and will be for a very long time.Time will reveal those left standing and seeing just how much workload someone carried. You will see the true leaders rise and weak leaders fall short. You’ll see how good they faked it till now. At least more than half of CMs took the VSP. I sympathize for my amazing colleagues who either didn’t get the vsp or opted out that will be absorbing all the work from the folks leaving. And it’s been confirmed more layoffs will happen! Just because this company is remote does not mean this is the best job to have! It was a big perk, But sometimes it just isn’t worth the stress anymore. 7 years with Centene

No regrets here - wish they would let us go now. Honestly how much work is being done unless it has a turn around time. No one is doing anything in my area and the leadership act like they have no idea what is going on. Feels like the same feeling when I've been in mergers and acquisitions - all secrecy - don't do anything in case the new company doesn't want it. Honestly I think CNC died and was buried with MN, Look at the swinging door of the board of directors. Someone like Asher or others in that should have been fired after the Ambetter fiasco of missing the quarterly earnings report and now being sued by stockholders for misleading. Get me out of here - MANY YEARS committed here - no regrets helping people get the care they need but c-suite should take responsibility. London bridge should have fallen down when they shared the incorrect earnings report.

I didn’t take it. I didnt like that there were no definitive date or amount listed.. I read how it was all subject to change. That scared me. After the deadline, I started regretting it but then seeing all the stretched out end dates made me happy that I didnt. I think I would ve been one with a 2027 end date. I fully accept that I can be part of the RIF and prepared myself mentally for it. i have been applying for new positions and even have an interview coming up.

I wholeheartedly regret not taking it. I had just had medical issues and major dental work so I couldn’t afford to lose my job in less than 60 days. However, I could’ve been alright if I knew for sure the departure date would be later in the future. Now I’m worried they’re going to try to micromanage the rest of us out. The way this whole process was rolled out is terrible!
