I gave nine years to Oracle, late nights, extra projects, constant praise. I honestly believed I'd be here until retirement. Then they cut me last month without warning. I know I'll find something else, but I'm terrified it won't be as good. The unfairness of it all is eating me alive.

@m4 I sure do! I loved it there, I loved the job, my manager, my coworkers. Although, from what I've been reading about current conditions I don't think I'd want to go back to that. It's an impossible situation for the poor people who have been left behind, so it's no wonder people are praying to get rif'd. 😭
Read up on things like 'business' 'capitalism' and 'As needed' and stop your whining.

@m4 they may not miss working at Oracle but they are missing the paycheck and benefits. This is a hard time to be unemployed and the future doesn't look any better.

Perhaps you should reconsider your life priorities and invest more time in your life instead of taking on extra projects late at night. Just an idea.
@OP Does not want to invalidate your feelings. But...You hoped to stay here in O till retirement !! That would have made you a really unhappy , sad person.
OP, ask them for a participation trophy so you can put it with all of the others that you "earned"... Life's not fair.

The harsh truth is Oracle su-ks to work for but there are other jobs out there much much worse
@bs then why do you go ask an Indian worker wagging your tail like a donkey , how to solve this problem. doing fake work all morning and dump the work on h1b and then go home. no wonder companies rely on h1b
@OP and it took you all this time at oracle to figure out that corporate america doesn't give a cr*p about individuals? Believe it or not, you have led a pretty sheltered work life compared to most american employees.

I worked there for 12 years, I was ready to retire, I got the good package in April 2025. Its a bad company. Just remember, no company ever gives a cr-p about you, you are just a line on a spreadsheet. Don't ever love a company, because they don't love you.

If you are working in corporate environment you are just a number to the corporation. In your smaller working group that may not be true but most decisions are handed down from corporate. They are taking less and less input from the first level managers. Going forward being somewhere 3-5 years will make you a long term employee. You need to move around to stay alive. Companies don't seem to value experience. It's all about bean counting.
@aw Not everyone working at Oracle find it to be a miserable experience. I was let go back in September when my role was eliminated. I loved that job, I loved the people I was working with and I even loved the management. Had a great management chain and everyone worked well together.
It happens. It might be rare, but it DOES happen.

I’m really sorry. After nine years of loyalty, late nights and going above and beyond, being let go without warning is deeply painful. It is not just the loss of a job; it is the loss of the future you thought you had built with Oracle, and it makes complete sense that you feel angry, frightened and betrayed.
One of the hardest lessons in working life is that a company can value your contribution without ever being capable of returning the same loyalty you gave it. Oracle may have benefited from your dedication, but it never owned your identity, your worth or your future. No workplace deserves your soul, your health or every part of your life. A career should support your life, not consume it.
What Oracle cannot take away is everything you developed during those nine years: your experience, judgement, resilience, relationships and reputation. Those belong to you, and you will carry them into whatever comes next.
The next opportunity may not look exactly the same, but that does not mean it will be worse. It may give you something Oracle did not: better balance, greater security, more appreciation or the freedom to define success on your own terms. Give yourself time to grieve what happened, but do not let the way they ended the relationship make you question the value you brought to it.
You gave Oracle nine years. Now it is time to invest that same commitment in yourself.
