The message im getting of late is “I want you to do the job but I don’t trust you to do the job”. Questioning why we need certain resource skill sets. Not everything can be given to AI especially if you work on 3rd party solutions. But I still need the pay check. Job market is so competitive out there

@1qd oh you haven't heard? Someone was exploring "empowering" Product Managers to create their own UI. So there's your UX concern solved 🤣 they've thought of everything!
Oh yeah, the end has gotta be near...
It's as if somebody, somewhere up the ladder, making these decisions, wants the company to fail, because honestly, the idea of having Devs do more than just development is pretty stupid. (To use an age old investing analogy... never put all your eggs into one basket.)
They're expecting Devs to not only take on QA roles, but the plan is to use Devs to take entire features and implement them from start to finish. How can Devs, with zero to very little domain knowledge outside of what they've been doing, be expected to suddenly know everything that used to require entire teams to do??? Where is the role of architects in this workflow? Or what about the work of UX teams? Or the work from the dozens of different modules some changes/updates/features require?
I guess AI must be a heckuva lot smarter than we think it is if AI can stitch together the pieces from all of these groups and pump out working features. But will it be done right? I'm thinking not at all. And does anybody really care any more? I guess these days, if it works, it's right. This whole shift in dev responsibility is a recipe for disaster.
How I know the end is near?
- people who have no business being around source code now submit AI generated PRs
- supposed "software engineers" justify their own PRs as "Claude said so"
- QA roles being eliminated and Devs are now supposed to be QAs too
Apparently having "institutional knowledge" only matters if you're a C level. Otherwise you are just another cell in an HR Excel spreadsheet
@w6 I can't fathom how sticky the customers are to neglected products
I’d be soo pi---d if I was a customer that had to deal with TR.
The back and forth, the constant following up and careless mistakes the Third World outsource teams create is sinking this company deep. The billing errors are catastrophic taking months to fix. I feel so bad for our customers.
