@10e what demographics are you referring to? Would love to see source data. Workforce varies by industry and region.

@kt

Based on actual US demographics and mathematical probability-

It’s way more likely just because that’s how numbers work.

For a 10-person team, for example:

  • All 10 being White: about 1 in 18
  • All 10 being Hispanic/Latino: about 1 in 12.6 million
  • All 10 being Black: about 1 in 430 million
  • All 10 being Asian: about 1 in 867 billion
  • All 10 being Asian Indian: about 1 in 497 quadrillion

So the probability falls exponentially, not linearly, as team size increases.

And yet we have entirely Indian US teams.

Maybe AT&T can’t attract white workers like it used to? Given the easily searchable employee accounts of how awful working conditions are and how poorly the leadership acts.

Do we have the same observation when pictures are 100% white?

Why is it so hard to understand that white people are just not that smart? TDP is highly selective, and if you look at your lower end technician and care center jobs it’ll resemble the demographic of this country very well :)

U.S. workforce racial/ethnic breakdown (2020):

  • White: 55%
  • Black/African American: 18%
  • Hispanic/Latino: 16%
  • Asian/Pacific Islander: 8%
  • Native American: 1%
  • Two or more races: 3%

In 2020, prior to amazing DEI push.

You can all stop claiming racism, it’s just pattern recognition.

We aren’t blind to what is happening in society and our neighbors and claiming racism doesn’t invalidate the reality of what is happening.

@bb

Exactly. Don't worry about these younger people who won't hang around. Think more about that stupid white guy at the top who won't leave. And the equally stupid white guys and women a level down who will then take over.

Workday metrics weed out those that don’t fit a certain profile. Quite unfair to those with experience, age, not of a certain minority, or cost too much. Haven’t seen a truly qualified candidate make it through since January of last year and I knew of qualified candidates who submitted. It’s illegal but no one has challenged the company for so long they are getting bold.

Nobody who values themselves is willing to work here. That’s why you see what you do in the picture.

Maybe think from another way. Smart white kid will not come here. Pay range is much lower than the top companies.

This country is over 70% white. I think the professional victims forget that pretty often. Called a minority for a reason…

This is what “equal” representation should look like in the photo. (And it’s not even close)

Group
Approx. % of U.S. population

White (alone)
~75%

Black or African American (alone)
~13.7%

Hispanic/Latino (any race)
~19.5%

Asian (alone)
~6.4%

Asian Indian
~1.6–1.8%

Who cares? No matter the ethnicity, none of them will stick around long. And who can blame them?

“Bad when your race is underrepresented but good when someone else’s race is underrepresented.”

Come on you’re smarter than that. Statistically speaking the breakout would closely resemble the demographics of an area or the country, yet that doesn’t seem to be the case in hiring now does it? Excluding one group to boost another is still discrimination. If you support that then you are the racist.

DEi is illegal now. They can no longer hire to create percentages to match the population. Only merit counts. Come on! You had to know when they switched to merit, not who you know, the demographics would change drastically.
