I vaguely recall an RTO mandate going out not long after I left. What actually happened? I can't see them enforcing this when half of us were made remote through COVID

@kj I don't know the split between people with work and those without. I'd love to know the split. Is it that 20% of people are doing 80% of the work!? I am surrounded by people who aren't doing much, and going as slow as possible. But hear people say they are super busy and the simplest of thing will be a week away! Having held out this long for a redundancy, I was pretty sure my last reducing in effort would achieve a VR, but I'm still here!
The only place I heard it was being done was India, no other country I am aware of was enforcing it.
Makes me laugh people saying there is no work, I'm inundated, but it's a back office role dealing with admin, the one thing DXC is good at creating and complicating!
@dq It's pretty frustrating. Nobody will admit there is no work and they expect a near instant reply when something does occasionally crop up. I guess that's all they are paying for these days - an emergency response IT servive. You don't need to buy a mouse jiggler a simple powershell script keeps the your laptop unlocked.
Just sleep at home and get a good mouse jiggler - you should be fine.
If they did all go in. It might highlight how little real work gets done. How many other people spend literally all week waiting for someone else to do a 5 minute job so they can lurch forward to the next blocker!
I think they realised that they don't actually have the office space in the UK to do it. Most have shut down and the new Farnborough office is not suitable for rto except for the meeting rooms.
I've not been into an office since 2020. And have no intention of ever going back. I used to travel to a client site, pretty much for the sake of it and I used to fight the expenses approval process every week just to do something they wanted me to do, and the client was paying for. Yet now even when they say they'd like to get people face to face, the moment it costs any money - it doesn't happen.
It was only ever for managers and above. They put out feelers for enforcing it on some accounts, but I don't think it went any further than that.
